Reporting directly to the General Manager the primary function of the role will be to provide Health and Safety advice to the site to ensure compliance with the health and safety law as required by Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations1999: Group H& S Policies and local H & S Policies and procedures.

• Ensure the provision of accident/ incident / minor accident and near miss statistics on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis as directed.
• Ensure that accident investigation is carried out by the appropriate departmental/line manager with a view to preventing similar occurrences in the future.
• Stop any plant, machinery or activity where there is a danger to a person or
persons or damage to premises or equipment is foreseeable.
• Ensure that the Company's obligations in respect of risk assessment, SSOW, control and monitoring of hazardous substances, workplace, work equipment, manual-handling operations, personal protective equipment and display screen equipment are being strictly adhered to.
• Carry out training in all aspects of Safety that the Regional HR Manager and UK Safety Manager deem is capable of being undertaken by the post holder, liase with Managers and external trainers on the quality and content of the training to be provided.
• Carry out periodic safety inspections and safety audits to identify unsafe plant, working conditions and practices. To report to the management team on the findings of such inspections and make recommendations for remedying any defects found.
• Keep abreast of changing legislation pertinent to the corrugating industry and
associated areas.
• Undertake ad hoc projects as directed

My client a leading chemical manufacturing group servicing a variety of end users is looking to recruit an experienced maintenance and reliability engineer.
The successful candidate will play a major part in the management of plant equipment including the maintenance of existing and installation of new machinery within a Top Tier COMAH site.
The successful candidate will therefore have to perform the following tasks
• Ensuring maintenance activities on areas of responsibility are conducted to the correct site quality, safety, health, and environmental (QSHE) and Engineering standards.
• Providing technical engineering assistance to supervisors, technicians and planners
• Proactively working with the Integrity Department to ensure compliance to PSSR
• Driving continuous improvement of fixed and rotating equipment reliability
You will also have the following skills, knowledge and education:
• Good knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
• Experience in a responsible engineering role on a chemical process plant
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Chartered Mechanical Engineer (or working towards Chartered Status)
• Knowledge of relevant Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and ability to participate in structured investigations such as RCA, PHA.
• Working knowledge of generating method statements and risk assessments
• Working knowledge of PSSR and understanding of PED
• Writing and specifying pressure equipment repair procedures.
• Fixed equipment design and maintenance e.g. pressure vessels, pipe systems, valves, filters, furnaces, boilers, heat exchangers and atmospheric storage tanks
• Knowledge of different maintenance strategies – including predictive and preventative
• SAP R/3 PM Module and MM module
• Good verbal and written communication skills and strong influencing style. Good people manager and communicator who can achieve results through working with people in an informal culture.
