Description

|
The role is a very hands-on and varied one, with the ultimate responsibility for the
preparation of management accounts and key performance indicators for the business.
Daily tasks include cash management and banking, purchase ledger and credit control.
These lead to the preparation, development and analysis of accounts and reports for
management and regulatory compliance. The Finance Manager works closely with our
external auditors for year-end accounts preparation.
The position is a fundamental service role which supports all aspects of our sales and
marketing company. There are also elements of operations responsibility (for example,
company cars)
This is an autonomous job within our small team, so would suit a self-motivated person who is flexible, can take the initiative and is willing to tackle a wide variety of tasks. This is a job where precision and accuracy are important, as is the ability to cope with the pressures of monthly deadlines. However, we also look for creativity and a bent for continuous improvement – we want development and review of all procedures, systems and techniques used in producing management accounts and reports, to ensure efficiency and to give the optimal feedback into the rest of the business.
We have a recent implementation of the Access Dimensions accounts software. A primary responsibility is ongoing development of this powerful tool, with a view towards further process efficiencies and production of timely and pertinent management accounts and reporting.
Prime requisites will be a comprehensive knowledge of accounting in an SME environment, and good computer skills (Excel and accounts packages). You must have effective written and oral communication skills. We want someone who is credible and reliable, who makes realistic commitments and lives up to them, and who meets deadlines. You will need to comprehend SME conditions and make creative use of limited resources in an entrepreneurial environment.
