Profile

The role

As one of the company's Service Engineers, the jobholder will be responsible for visiting customer's sites in order to carry out Commissioning, routine maintenance and emergency repairs of the company's products.

The reward:

Key responsibilities will be to:
• Generate new, high quality sales opportunities with existing and prospective clients in target industry sectors;
• Manage client relationships, including primary responsibility for projects;
• Identify marketing initiatives to generate quality prospects / leads and to build the Company's Global position in market;
• Report to and work closely with the senior management in order to maximise customer service and revenue with existing and potential customers.

Main Activities

The Business Development Manager's principal objective is to secure new business and retain key customer business for the company's range of specialist products, services and solutions. This will be achieved by:

• Developing and maintaining a good understanding of the Company's range of e-learning solutions, areas of expertise and business objectives;
• Identifying the appropriate contacts within target companies (primarily middle and senior managers in large, blue-chip organisations) as agreed and detailed within sales plans;
• Establishing contact, meeting and presenting to these individuals to introduce the Company's range of products and services and discuss how they could benefit the target organisation;
• Following-up contacts, including the preparation of correspondence, proposals, presentations, pitches, tenders, etc., and maintaining full records and reports;
• Liaising with clients and project management / production colleagues to ensure that customer projects are managed effectively and professionally;
• Building the Company's reputation within clients as a provider of creative ideas and innovative and effective solutions for their business, thereby consolidating and extending the company's existing position;
• Identifying client and market requirements and liaising with Marketing and Product development colleagues regarding commercial opportunities for new business initiatives;
• Reporting to senior management on all activities both locally and internationally.

Regular travel should be anticipated.

Essential Experience and Knowledge
The candidate should have:

• At least 5-10 years relevant sales experience in a business-to-business environment, ideally in e-Learning or Professional Services/Consulting or related services;
• A proven record of achievement in high-value sales, with particular emphasis on new business development and consultancy;
• Experience and success in managing high-value and complex relationships with senior management in large corporations;
• An understanding and awareness of the use of media and IT in business;
• Good IT literacy and skills;
• Degree level education.

The Role

Under the direction of the field support engineering and in close liaison with the field
service manager, plans, performs and directs service projects and related activities
which require a wide range of independent action, decision making and acts as a group
leader. Handles and coordinates technical services issues and resolves warranty related
matters. Provides specific training to new and experienced employees as well as agents
and customers. Initiates action and organises proper feedback to technical service and
sales engineers resulting from the review of field service reports and customer
feedback. This job level also recognizes increased technical and commercial knowledge
and contribution over that of a Service Engineer.

Nature of the Job

Directs, controls, trains and develops service engineers/representatives working in the
field. Provides back up on technical and contractual aspects for field personnel, repair
shop engineers, service parts coordinators and customers as required.
Handles in connection with Field Service Manager, customer, technical service and
sales trouble and warranty jobs. Acts as a consultant to our multi national customers
and mostly as a sole representative of the Company. This is a line position.

Due to the fact that the Company seldom builds two machines alike or customers seldom use a machine in identical service, job often requires response to new, unfamiliar or original situations, which are not covered by precedents or procedures.
The same also relates to turbomachinery built by other OEM's.
May be leading modification projects of equipment built by other OEM's.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Mechanical engineering degree preferred, candidates will ideally possess 10 years + field service experience.
- Must be familiar with all related product lines in including reciprocating compressors, steam/gas turbines, dry gas seals etc.
- Capable of handling administrative aspects of job.
- Supervisory skills are needed in order to lead successfully engineers/representatives assigned.
- Good analytical mind is a must.
- Since position requires many contacts with company and a multi cultural customer base, good communication abilities are also very important.
- Multi-lingual and flexible minded to cope with ever changing requirements.
- Must be willing to work in camps and platforms and in non-industrialized nations.
- Tropical fitness a must.
- Must be prepared to be located in Switzerland full time.
