Job Description:

As a Project Engineer, you will ensure that appropriate engineering standards are used in relation to construction on allocated overhead line equipment (OLE) renewals projects

Your expertise as a Project Engineer will enable you to implement systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to relevant projects. Duties:

The right candidate should have:

-HND or Degree Level in Quantity Surveying

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

-Prepare monthly valuation applications in adequate time for inclusion within the Main Contract Valuation, including recovery of installation costs, unfixed materials (on and off site), sub-contract claims, variations and, where appropriate, fluctuations and prolongation costs.

-Calculate costs associated with contract variations.

-Prepare internal financial cost reconciliation reports.

-Prepare the Final Account and submit to our Clients Quantity Surveyor/PQS for their information and agreement. Negotiation of the Final Account with our Clients Quantity Surveyor/PQS and attendance at meetings as deemed necessary.

Brief Vacancy Description

The EPDG manages the in-house E&P design team responsible for carrying out GRIP Stage 2-4 Engineering development of E&P schemes, and for producing GRIP Stage 5 detailed designs where specific needs arise. The post also provides professional briefing and leadership to the E&P project engineers within the IIG teams. Reporting to the PEM (E&P) are the following roles:

Principal Design Engineers (PDE's ). These posts lead the E&P sub-asset' teams of Distribution, Plant, Protection & Control and Contact System Engineers producing GRIP Stage 4 outline designs, and have overall design responsibility for their respective sub-asset' areas. Detailed External Job Description

The Overhead Line Design Engineer duties will consist of:

- Overhead line electrification design to Form A stage (Layouts, Cross-sections) with CAD skills to support this;

- Supervision and Participation in site survey work;

- Design and technical advice;

- Design and Survey Works Planning;

- Reporting to the Senior OLE Designer.

The candidate must be able to demonstrate competency and / or experience in developing OLE layout plans on existing and green-field sites, including positioning and selection of structure and foundation types to suit the conditions found. Experience in Allocation Design would also be valuable.

· An engineering degree or equivalent industry-recognised training qualification.

As a Sourcing Manager youll ensure delivery of optimal commercial arrangement through the application of our Strategic Sourcing framework, proactively developing relationships with supplier to support business need.

Key Accountabilities

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

Evidence of understanding Strategic Sourcing best practice and ability to apply knowledge to develop strategic sourcing strategies for less complex/critical categories to deliver innovative and effective outcomes at individual contract levels up to a value of ~£25m.

Proven track record of benefits delivery through the application of strategic sourcing techniques and use of eSourcing/eTendering systems.

Experience in supporting negotiating teams and applying appropriate fact-based tactics and techniques to achieve optimal outcomes.

The candidate will work within the Strategic Sourcing "People Services" as one of a team of 3 team under the guidance of the Sourcing Manager, Professional Development & Training (PD&T).

A category strategy has been developed and now needs to be delivered. The candidate will be required to undertake the tactical procurement until the new contracts are in place:

- Support business defining requirements

- Manage tenders

- Drafting contract schedules

- Handle and execute contract extensions

- Support category management and administration

- Support commercial / contractual elements of other contracts as fits with timescales and plans

There may also be a need to deliver some of the strategic tenders once the programme of work has been fully defined.

Network Rail has embarked on a programme of change to devolve control from the centre to a route based structure. This is in the early stages of design and implementation with impacts across the whole organisation. As a result, all teams are working at a fast pace and looking for ways to contribute to the flexible working arrangements required whilst maintaining transparency, regulatory compliance, and good commercial governance.

Experience required:

- Accustomed to contract work able to get established quickly, learning company sourcing governance requirements and building relationships with all required stakeholders.

- Strong procurement skills particularly around:

o Leading tenders

o Defining evaluation criteria

o Contract drafting (schedules)

o Contract negotiation

- Candidates must have experience of buying services, particularly desired is training and development or other HR services.

- Experience of working within transformational change, ability to think flexibly.
