Brief Vacancy Description
· Work with sub-programmes / projects to ensure that delivery and transition plans incorporate necessary change activities

Job Description:
1. Monitor so that site activities comply with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), relevant rules, regulations, Railway Group and company standards and all applicable procedures and legislation.
2. Review in conjunction with the Project Engineer, the contractors method statements and site-specific risk assessments.

6. Monitor, by close liaison with the contractor, whether "first off" examples of elements of the works are jointly inspected at an early opportunity. Agree the detailed workmanship standards for consistent application to the whole of the works.
7. Monitor the contractors management of site works by regular site meetings at which details of the locations of, nature of, and number of staff to be employed upon each element of the work shall be established for the period until the next meeting.
8. Monitor progress of the works by regular site visits and inspections, comparing work in progress with contract documentation, and information given at site meetings and with the overall contract programme.
9. Maintain a regular and frequent site presence at all worksites and to continually monitor, and correct where necessary, the standard and methods of work, being always vigilant for inadequacies. Maintain site diary as appropriate.
10. Encourage an awareness of the importance of HSQE and good workmanship by regular communication with all contractors site staff
11. Monitor and assess the competence of contractors staff prior to and during all phases of work.
12. Check whether the contractor complies with policy in accident/incident reporting and investigation, and assist with conducting investigations.
13. Locally agree site records and freight haulage claims with the contractor for payment purposes.

Detailed External Job Description
Electrification Project Engineers will be required to understand the infrastructure involved to deliver power from the National Grid to trains. They will need to develop detailed knowledge of HV switchgear and cables, traction transformer and rectifier equipment, 750V DC switchgear and the system of conductor rails and traction return via the running rails.
To deliver projects safely, candidates must understand the safety requirements necessary to manufacture, install, test and commission all elements of the traction infrastructure and to provide equipment which is safe to operate and maintain over its whole lifecycle. Contractors require access to the operational railway and Project Engineers must be familiar with safe working practices for HV and LV systems and for access to or working "on or near the line".
The successful candidate will be required to liaise with Suppliers, Contractors and internal staff at all levels and to monitor the design, construction, test and commissioning activities.
