My client has a team of 15 Buyers across Europe, made up of strategic buyers, tactical buyers and NSL (Non stock listed) buyers, they are currently looking to fill two STRATEGIC BUYER vacant positions.
There will be an element of European travel involved in these roles and candidates need to have a working knowledge of German, both written and verbal.
CIPS is a bonus but non essential, they are looking for people with drive enthusiasm and plenty of common sense who are looking to study towards CIPS (which my client supports for the right candidates) essentially candidates should have an edge be able to demonstrate an ability to challenge and constantly drive for change.
The main purpose of this role is to support the implementation of commodity specific purchasing activities across Europe for all finished goods, products and services focussing on improvements to drive efficiency, reduce costs and improve service levels to customers.
You will support regional strategic sourcing initiatives and be responsible for implementing procurement strategy (as directed) associated with finished goods within your commodity portfolio on behalf of European operations.
Key areas of responsibilities will be:
Ensure that the company’s terms and conditions of purchase apply above all others (unless agreed with the European Purchasing Director) ensuring that the company is appropriately protected.
Improve (as directed) new and existing trading terms with suppliers to help drive improved cash flow and working capital performance for the company.
Achieve and maintain cost competitive supply of third party purchased product and be able to justify and demonstrate rationale for all sourcing decisions in terms of competition, market pricing etc
Promote operating and supply chain concepts to ensure that our sales channels are not disadvantaged in any way.
Conduct formal market testing exercises as part of a continuous commercial review process.
Assist in maintaining a list of approved suppliers and perform duties in line with the quality manual and local work instructions to ensure accountability
Responsible for obtaining the necessary information from suppliers to facilitate the creation and future purchase of new products.
Work with Product Management groups to ensure that all purchased product meets the relevant third party approvals
Be the first level of escalation in support for day-to-day tactical purchasing activities.
Review invoices in query and address as appropriate in a timely manner taking necessary action and seeking the required approval to resolve and avoid any reoccurrence.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with the company’s suppliers in accordance with the ethical code and standards of conduct maintaining the highest standards of professionalism
Retain all supplier communications within the department to meet the company’s retention of documentation guidelines.
To continually seek and identify areas for improvement, in line with the strategic direction of the purchasing organisation with a view to improving service levels to customers.
Provide as required information and statistics with regard to purchasing activities to support business needs
Education/Experience
MBO, HBO IIPMM, IPICS, MIOM, CIPS (or equivalent) qualification preferred
At least 2 years experience in a buying / planning role
Appropriate supplier/commodity experience (an advantage)
Skills

Good communication skills at all levels (both internal and external)
Knowledge of DRP (or equivalent) systems an advantage

To carry out assembly, fitting and calibration on all mechanical and electromechanical assemblies and instruments throughout the Company's product range.
