Based in Cambridgeshire, my client is a leading chilled & frozen food processor. Reporting into the QA Manager, they are currently seeking to recruit a QA Specialist.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of Quality Control on semi-finished products, finished products and packaging within the framework of the Quality Assurance system, which meets quality expectations from the organisation and customers. You will also carry out inspections and audits, prepare and give training, and perform supporting activities for the QA Manager and Technical Officer.
Responsibility for the implementation of quality controls as well as recording and filing of deviations from specification limits (notification to production department, logistics as well as QA Manager)
Assist in maintaining QA Goals, reviewing goals against actual performance. Assist in making adjustment in training or focus based on performance against goals.
Reviews product disposition that falls outside specification limits. Coordination with Production Supervision on restrictions and corrective action required. Makes recommendations for follow-up concerning blockade/restrictions.
Daily reporting of HACCP verification/deviations, blocked/restricted products etc. to the QA manager via HACCP deviation and product non-conformance reports.
Monitor lab equipment; ensure correct use, calibration of equipment according to procedure. Communicating re repair, purchase, and/or replacement of equipment to QA Manager
Considering budget constraints, order lab supplies, reagents, chemicals, and other materials or resources for the QA department.
Leads the QA Inspectors so that they carry out all required QA activities effectively.
Supports optimum manning and use of people and resources, including training backup lab people.
Is leading the training, qualification and auditing of Quality Inspectors
Communicate progress regarding Quality, Food Safety, HACCP deviations in the department.
Communicate the effectiveness in maintaining quality and food safety, of lab procedures and instructions to the QA Manager.

Our client specialise in the production of high quality chilled & ambient products and have sites located around the UK. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Packaging Buyer to join their Purchasing team.
Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, you will responsible for the completion of NPD and value engineering projects whilst liasing between development (concept/process), purchasing and suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure continuity of supply of all packaging
- Supplier selection, making proposals to the Purchasing Manager of new suppliers
- Reviewing the service, quality, contingency plans and company stability of suppliers
- Check day to day service and quality issues with suppliers, escalate issues where necessary
- Sourcing of new packaging - within set boundaries - for the NPD team
- Preliminary checking of packaging specifications
- Recommendation of additional suppliers
- Initial evaluation of cost options for individual projects
- Deal with invoice discrepancies
- Provide monthly category report to the Purchasing Manager
- Carry out admin work as required by the role and department
- Input price amendment forms onto spreadsheet
- Visit suppliers, producing a report from each visit
- Involvement with supplier presentations and visits
- Any other duties as may be required by the business from time to time
- Purchase contract evaluation and recommendation for purchase

Our client specialise in the production of high quality chilled & ambient products and have sites located around the UK. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Services Coordinator to join their Technical team.
Reporting into the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the management of HACCP and Allergen control, ensuring the approval and maintenance of all raw materials, suppliers, and services used on site, having expertise on customer specification systems, providing QA expertise and providing input to Technical Systems.
HACCP and Allergen Management
Maintaining supplier files to ensure all due diligence information is up to date and available for reference/audit, including authorised specifications to company formats, self assessment questionnaires, audit reports, BRC documentation, ethical information etc
Ensuring direct or indirect ingredients comply with legislation and customer requirements
Main technical liaison with all suppliers into the manufacturing unit, coordinating improvements through the supply base to the unit
Providing QA expertise to site and picking up QA accountability and team supervision in absence of QA
Raw material/packaging certificate of analysis checking and approval of concessions, where applicable/required
Liaising with Development and Purchasing departments to approve any potential new suppliers, raw materials, packaging, and services via supplier contact, specification reviews, self assessment questionnaire and audits etc, as determined by risk assessment
Inputting raw material and packaging data onto customer specification systems in readiness for artwork initiation, in liaison with the Purchasing and Process Development Team
Being aware of updates and customer requirements for all customer specification systems (not just on raw materials) to be known as site expert in these systems
Checking new printed packaging on first delivery
Co-ordinating the site raw materials and packaging risk assessment, auditing schedules and approved supplier lists, in conjunction with the Group Auditing Team; being the site contact to the Group Auditing Team, ensuring the balance is prioritised in house, for example new supplier, issue related supplier visits that add site specific value.
Ensuring approval of existing raw materials and packaging, also considering the scope of any specific customer standards
Internal auditing on site
Providing systems input to the running of the site Technical Department

Reporting into the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and assisting in the development of technical documentation to drive the development of business.
Responsibilities:
- Support in the preparation and maintenance of production manufacturing instructions and associated documents.
- Co-ordination of the Quality Management System maintaining document control and record keeping requirements in liaison with technical, operational and procurement departments.
- Development and maintenance of complaints database and production of trend analysis reports.
- Collection of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data to develop statistical measurements of business performance, encapsulating quality, safety and operational parameters.
- Maintenance of micro database and associated paperwork.
- Compilation of specifications in customer format.
- Maintaining an up to date knowledge on matters pertaining to legislation, GMO, allergy and free from information.
- On a project by project basis co-ordination of investigations into quality issues by undertaking root cause analysis and gaining agreement on corrective action.
- Analysis of quality data to draw meaningful conclusions from the information ensuring that sustainable corrective action is implemented.

This role will take on the responsibility for optimising packing line machine performance during the shift period. You will be working in a food production environment on very specialised machines. Reporting to and running the packing lines for your the Shift Manager you will ensure that all machinery operate at its best insuring throughput, Quality/Repacks are kept within KPIs. Working closely with the shift manager to review working practices and drive costs down.
Accountabilities
Responsible for the operation of the production lines during the shift hours.
Understand the operation of each of the machines used and develop an understanding of how to tune them to improve performance and conformance to quality and safety requirements.
Build a working spare parts inventory; recognise parts that need changing before a break down. Develop a MTBF database to enable you to work with the Shift manager to organise shifts to fit in with required maintenance to ensure machine do not stop during packing shift
Able to identify reasons for breakdowns, fix issues and solve problems when they occur to keep the lines running. Larger issues will be escalated to the appropriate supplier. You will need to ensure your knowledge is such that you can with confidence to discuss the issues with the machine suppliers and take recommended action.
Requirements
Good electrical/electronic knowledge / understanding, a thorough mechanical knowledge.
Accurate fault finding to sub assembly level (eg; operational component)
It would be an advantage if candidates have served a formal apprenticeship and be able to demonstrate that they have worked in an industrial manufacturing process environment, where they repaired and maintained pumps, gearboxes, conveyors. Knowledge of Proseal and Multipond food/punnet processing machines is desirable but not essential.
Full training will be provided but you must be looking for manual work, be very numerate.
You will be expected to not just set up these machines but to also run them.
