An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to work within the Current Product Engineering Team. The Current Product Team is a 12 strong multi-disciplined team comprising of skilled design and development engineers responsible for all engineering aspects of the current product engine ranges manufactured on site and at other global facilities.
The role encompasses two significant elements that are to personally deliver on a portfolio of current product design activity whilst also acting as the current product team lead design subject matter expert (SME) and coach other design engineers within the team.

The Role:
Reporting to the Design Centre Manager at a multi-million pound state of the art Engine research, design, development and manufacturing centre in Derbyshire, key responsibilities will include:
Engine systems and component design in a multi project environment.
Simultaneous engineering, Design for manufacture, assembly and service, tooling optimisation and piece cost control.
Supporting purchasing with supplier selection.
Production of design documentation and presentations at formal design reviews.
Requirements:
In addition to a strong engineering background and experience in engine design (diesel or gasoline), you will be:
Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
Experienced in new product design (concept to launch), including development of engineering specifications.
Have a considerable knowledge of engine systems and components.
Be a competent user of 3D CAD systems (NX preferred).
