Job Description:
Our client is a leading provider of comprehensive water and wastewater service to municipal and industrial customers and they are currently looking to recruit a Production Technician for one their Water Treatment Plants in Buckinghamshire.
The Production Technician performs a variety of maintenance functions at water production and related facilities. This is a skilled maintenance position that requires electrical and mechanical knowledge of pumps, motors, valves and other plant items. It also involves supervision of contractors. The job takes place indoors and outdoors and requires the successful applicant to work in various environments, including confined spaces and work with chemicals. There is also a need to take part in a 24hour standby rota. Qualifications:
* City & Guilds Apprentice trained in Mechanical or Electrical skills
* Requires knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical maintenance of water production or related equipment.
* Must have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic and routine process and mechanical problems in single or multiple unit processes and take action to correct the process problems by chemical, physical or mechanical adjustments to the process.
* Requires good reading, math, writing, scientific, and verbal communication skills; a mechanical aptitude and the ability to read, interpret, and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles, and other equipment.
* Requires the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
* Requires being self-directed to carry out tasks and assignments in a team or individual environment.
* Must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees.
* Must have basic computer skills including, but not limited to basic operations and manipulation of data on spreadsheets, etc.
* Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
* The ability to perform tasks requiring standing and walking for extended periods of time.
* Requires working in outside and inside environments with noise and all temperatures and climatic conditions, and must be able to work under adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.
* HV qualifications would be useful.

Our client is currently looking for 2 Quantity Surveyors for their Severn Trent Water framework to be based at Derby.
Please see below an outline of what they are looking for:
First and foremost the QS must have previous track record working in civils or water process industry. They are not willing to take anyone on from predominantly building industry.
Experienced in cost control and cost management - this is an essential skill to the role
Responsible for monthly reporting of projects, cost v value, cash collection / reporting
Able to manage high numbers of projects at any one time, value of individual projects ranging from £200K - £2M, will have a portfolio of about £9M turnover per year to manage made up of 15 to 20 projects
Experienced working on design and build projects, this should bring benefits such as understanding of value engineering, management of design costs
Responsible for procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages
Able to demonstrate experience in 'batching' procurement opportunities over a programme of works to achieve buying gains and efficiencies
Understanding of NEC form of contract and subcontract, ideally NEC3 including Target Cost and Activity Schedule
Responsibilities will include:
Assistance in commercial management of contracts and the profitability of contracts.
Assistance in production also subsequent agreement of final accounts and additional cost claims.
Advice and assistance with sub-contract management.
Negotiations with Purchaser/Engineer.

Preparation of Bills of Quantities, budgets, take-offs.
