Our client is an internationally renowned engineering consultancy and world leader in energy technologies.

The Thermal Generation Business Division provides expertise in all technical, commercial, project management, design, environmental and advisory aspects of thermal power generation, cogeneration, combined heat and power, and desalination.

A qualified Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in the design and implementation of boiler plant is sought to undertake project development and advisory work on a range of power generation technology projects.

The role will include undertaking assignments in Lenders Engineer, Owners Engineer, Technical Advisory, and Due Diligence roles. Clients range from government departments, utilities, Independent Power Developers, Contractors, to international banks and lending institutions.

The Thermal Generation Business Division comprises a number of teams each headed by a team leader. Project engineers are assigned to a team for management reporting and overall co–ordination of their development. Project work may involve some periods of travel. Responsibilities on a specific assignment will be as defined by the project manager responsible for the project. The successful applicant will provide technical leadership and authority on all boiler issues within the Thermal Generation Business Division.

Candidate Specification:

The area of expertise sought is for boilers and associated ancillaries for thermal power plant, which should include a comprehensive knowledge of: both Heat Recovery Steam Generator and conventional fired boilers (both sub-critical and super-critical technology); design codes, materials technology and pressure parts; welding; boiler ancillary equipment; fuels (gas, oil, coal, biomass…); materials handling (coal, ash, limestone); combustion and emissions control equipment. Candidates should be capable of providing advice and input to a range of projects covering specification, design, commissioning and testing, performance monitoring, and operation and maintenance.

• Technically competent and IT proficient.

• Commercially aware and team player.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Chartered Engineer with Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

• Relevant experience within a boiler manufacturer and/or consultancy.

The Thermal & Renewables Division of their Power Unit are recruiting for a Principal Process Engineer with good industry experience to act as a principal carbon capture engineer within the team to deliver specific projects or sub-projects. You would also be required to act as a Senior Project Manager.

The successful candidate will work in interdisciplinary project teams on a range of assignments covering carbon capture and storage (CCS) on coal, gas-fired, coal gasification (IGCC plants) and capture-ready plants. You will have the opportunity to share technical expertise within your team and across other disciplines. You will draw on analytical skills and practical experience to undertake technical due diligence, concept and feasibility studies within multi-disciplinary project teams.

Specific duties will be tailored to the project requirements but the summary of responsibilities will be:

To act as a technical lead and/or project manager for the delivery of our obligations and internal project performance;

To work under your own initiative and as a CCS and /or gasification specialist within a multi-disciplined team of engineers;

To work with clients and contractors in achieving a technical solution;

Successful delivery of projects to time, quality and budget;

Contribute to open communications across the project delivery, client and stakeholder teams;

Contribute to securing opportunity and repeat business through the high quality of your service delivery;

To follow CCS market developments.

The ideal applicant will have a degree in either chemical or process engineering and extensive relevant experience ideally with one or more of the following:

Technical capability in thermal power generation, knowledge of thermal power generation technologies and processes;

In depth knowledge of CCS technologies;

Relevant experience in power generation, coal gasification - IGCC, amine gas separation process;

Project management experience;

Commercial awareness.

The persons appointed should be self motivated and with the ability to lead a team of qualified and experienced engineers. The appointees will have an excellent command of written and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively in terms of gathering and disseminating information at meetings and conferences.

Our client, a large multinational corporation, is a world leader across diverse engineering sectors through its various global businesses. They have been associated with safety and process control systems in the oil & gas, petrochemical industry for over thirty years. Specialising in high hazard special risk applications they have developed a wide range of solutions to suit many of these applications including Process Control, DCS, SCADA, PLC, ESD and detection.

They are now seeking to recruit a Senior Project Engineer to join the team at their Norwich operation.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager and responsible for Project team members, where applicable, within the project engineering team. You will liaise with all relevant Departments to ensure the work is carried out and fulfils all technical, commercial and quality requirements of multiple Contracts.

Your duties will include the following:

• To review the technical and commercial aspects of project specifications with reference to the submitted quotations.
• To liaise directly with the client (with Engineering group support, where necessary) on all technical matters relating to the design of packages.
• To ensure, through the Engineering group, technical compliance of all elements of engineering design on a project basis.
• To review and approve, in accordance with the company authorisation levels, purchase requisitions against projects and to ensure that the project PO schedule is accurately maintained.
• To review and approve design documentation, where required, in accordance with engineering discipline/expertise.
• To undertake responsibility for quoting/negotiating extras which arise from time to time during the course of the contracts.
• Liaison with Sales on contentious issues, as necessary, to maintain good customer relations.
• To generate project control documentation and through the Engineering group, ensure the generation of all engineering documentation and manuals required by the project, at each stage of the contract, at the times required.
• To ensure, in conjunction with the various departments involved, that all certification and QA/QC requirements for each project are adequately met.
• To liaise with other Departments, as required, to ensure smooth and efficient progress of the project throughout its life cycle.
• To monitor and control the progress, QA compliance and efficient flow of projects and review with the Contracts Manager on a regular basis.
• To ensure that all invoices for materials and services are instructed at the appropriate times in accordance with specific contract requirements.
• To maintain accurate cost records (including PO Schedules, Claims and Variations) and to monitor and control project costs, through Cost to Completes, Contract Transactions Reports and the above, ensuring budgeted margins are achieved or enhanced.
• To inform the Contracts Manager on a regular agreed basis of project progress and problem areas.
• To ensure that project targets are met.
• To act as the Contracts Manager's deputy, when required.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION:

• Desirable to BSc/BEng standard in Control, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum standard of HNC or equivalent in Control, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• You must have experience of Project Engineering in the oil & Gas sector.
