Senior Systems Engineer - Flight Simulators, Display Systems - Image Processing, Audio Visual, Broadcasting, , Electronics, Projection Products, Pixel Processing, Electro-Mechanical and Software Systems Integration, Defence/Aerospace.
The Systems Engineer reports to the systems and products engineering manager, possessing strong engineering skills, this role is responsible for the development of new displays concepts, tools and products.
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the overall system level concept, technical documentation, design reviews, configuration, integration and test and acceptance phases of products. Focused on customer requirements to design, develop, document and test new display solutions.
The Systems Engineer is primarily focused on Research and Development projects involving the integration of machine vision, software, hardware and mechanical components.
International travel relating to key installation of new products may be required. Support of industry trade shows and customer demonstrations may be required.
May lead cross-functional/domain teams and is capable of representing the company to the customer.
Responsibilities include -During the preliminary design phase; identify and resolve all critical technical, performance, usability, reliability, cost and timescale risks within the proposed solutions by commissioning and proving experiments, models or prototypes.
Develops the technical program execution plan for moderate-to-high complexity projects. Has primary execution responsibilities to ensure design project remains within budget, on schedule and meets requirements..
Prepares, analyses, and updates schedules and cost-to-complete inputs. Anticipates and identifies variances and recommends corrective actions to management.
Interfaces through reports and meetings with design project team and customers to communicate design status and to resolve system design difficulties
Tests concepts and trial new configurations in order to prove solutions being developed. Liaise with other engineering teams as appropriate
Directs key initial installations. Where concepts have been applied for the first time, oversee the design and installation stages providing guidance and support as required.
Installs and integrates new concepts successfully..
Lead and coach other systems and project engineers conducting development team meetings and development performance reviews as necessary.
Provides Mentorship to other engineers and engineering development team members.
Acts as the primary technical liaison with the customer to evaluate the customer's applications, needs, and expectations for the system design.
Maintains up to date knowledge on applications, trends and related technologies with respect to Display systems.
Provides analysis of the customer's needs in terms of the functional requirements for display systems and leads the technical proposal effort in response to Request for Proposals (RFP's). Responsibilities include preparation of technical proposal outline, task description for proposal efforts, and coordination of technical proposal writing and review.
Ensures compliance to development processes and standard work requirements. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Key Qualifications and Experience Senior Systems Engineer
Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field, Physics or equiv, and related experience, MSc or PhD.
Innovative problem solver and solution provider.
Demonstrable experts in their particular technology (Software, Mechanics, Electronics, or Physics) with good appreciation of one or more of the other disciplines.
Excellent knowledge of current best practices for engineering processes, tools, and techniques; including system level design techniques.
Hardware, Software and Mechanical integration.
Experienced in producing products from concept to hand over to manufacture.
Ability to work under pressure.
Competent in Engineering Degree Level Mathematics.
Experience in C++ programming, Specifically using MFC highly desirable.
Mechanical Engineering experience. SolidWorks/AutoCAD is highly desirable.
Technical Project Management experience.
Experience of display system/projection products is desirable.
Computer/Machine Vision Experience is desirable.
Understanding of Projection Optics is desirable.
Experience in a simulation/aviation training environment very useful.
