Primary Purpose of the Role - The Project Safety Engineer (PSE) will be responsible for ensuring that delivered products are safe to operate and maintain and providing Safety Engineering support and advice on all companies Projects and Bids.
The PSE will be responsible for the maintenance and implementation of the Company Safety Process (SAP-960) across all projects.
Key Tasks - The Safety Engineer would typically involve one or more of the following (depending on precise role): Manage Safety work packages for all applicable projects .
Estimate work packages for new projects and bids in accordance with business management system. Report forward load to Line manager and allocate necessary resources as applicable. Providing Safety support to all Bids and Projects.
Implement the Company Safety Procedure on all Projects, Production of Safety Plans, Safety Cases and Safety Certificates for all Projects in accordance with the company safety procedure. Development of the Business Management System in relation to Safety Engineering. Provide advice and support to all Engineers & Managers on the implementation of DEF STAN 00-56, JSP 454, MIL STD 882, BS EN 61508, CE Marking and any relevant legislation as and when needed.
Update the company safety process in accordance with changing standards and legislation. Work with Safety Engineer to spread safety-engineering resources on site. Required to develop training material for in house developed and COTS products and to plan and deliver training courses to customers both in the UK and overseas. Courses can vary from 2 days to 1 month in duration and you could expect to deliver around 12 courses per year.

Key tasks
To become technically familiar with a wide variety of equipment to the level at which any training will be delivered – e.g. operator, maintenance by replacement of module spares, board level repair etc. The successful trainer would plan the training courses including preparation of course material, arranging the necessary equipment, deliver the course and collect the formal feedback.

Technical experience should include:

Global systems engineering consultancy currently requires an additional Systems Engineer to work in the Defence and Airport market sectors. The work will involve the application of systems engineering principles and techniques to support large scale projects in systems engineering, requirements management and systems assurance.

The consultancy assignments occur across all stages of the project lifecycle and span a variety of roles, including:
• research into systems engineering methods and their application;
• provision of targeted advice to clients relating to specific problems;
• wider ranging support to clients in the establishment of their own systems engineering practice and processes;
• undertaking specific systems engineering activities on behalf of clients.

The role is based in Farnham, Surrey but may require periods of working on-site with clients as an integrated member of a Project team. Most on-site working is within a daily commute of Farnham e.g. at Heathrow airport, but opportunities arise to work further a field, including Europe and beyond.

Systems Engineers will need to be degree qualified in a Numerate Discipline, ideally Systems Engineering/Software Engineering (or equivalent experience) - a higher degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage.
