This revolutionary medical devices company are looking for an experienced Technician to join their Engineering team.
The purpose of the role is to provide technical support to the varied and diverse projects being carried out and supported by the Research and Development Team. This is a technical, lab based, hands on role which will involve manufacturing and testing of developing products, in addition to collating and analysing data on the characteristics of these products.
This will initially be on a temp basis, with a strong view to becoming permanent.

Applicants should have:
-A life science degree or equivalent.
-Laboratory/workshop experience working with chemicals in a COSHH and HASAW environment.
-Experience with manufacturing medical devices to ISO13485 quality standards and working to controlled procedures.

Job Purpose

To operate as a Technician within a team responsible for the production and processing of polyclonal antibodies for streptococcal, staphylococcal and other assigned latex agglutination products.

The role utilises multiple microbiology, Immunology and standard analytical techniques & equipment to produce antibodies for GMP standard immunodiagnostic purposes.

To perform technical manufacturing processes to GMP standards including vaccine production, antibody purification and antibody processing. To analyse reagents for acceptance against internal quality and performance specifications.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manufacture latex agglutination reagents as required with the use of departmental production documentation
Ensure quality standards are maintained for all work performed
Report back to team members on data obtained from processes followed
Perform all SAP transactions on work performed and be responsible for controlling inventory of stock used
Comply with all departmental and applicable company procedures including Health & Safety and GMP
To ensure all equipment used is calibrated according to procedure
To ensure that the manufacture and performance testing of reagents is carried out within set specifications
Any others duties/projects as are reasonable and within the skills and ability of the post-holder.
Participate in PPI (Continuous Improvement) programs as required

To be considered for this opportunity you will hold a degree level qualification and possess:

Experience with microbiological bench techniques or suitable transferable bench skills.
Experience of working within a GMP environment would be advantageous.
Experience with column chromatography would be advantageous.
Have excellent communication (written & verbal) and organisational skills
Have the ability to use own initiative and cope under pressure
Be confident, pro-active and looking to make a difference

We currently require a QC Laboratory Technician with a degree qualification in an appropriate Bio-Science (Ideally Microbiology) subject and industrial laboratory experience to undertake the necessary environmental monitoring required, ensuring compliance with standards whilst maintaining the system for panels and standards used.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·Undertake role as QA panel representative to ensure the system for panels and standards is maintained.
·To evaluate panels and standards.
·To maintain panel batch histories.
·Water Samples to be taken to agreed schedules and bioburden tested, recording of temperature and conductivity of water and arrangement of water samples to be sent for Total Organic Carbon Testing.
·To take air samples to agreed schedules and tested for viable and non-viable particulates.
·To undertake bioburden testing of components and products.
·To undertake moisture testing and associated moisture mapping of freeze dried components and reagents to the QA Specification requirements.
·Responsible for familiarising and complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental rules, policies, procedures and any other instructions relevant to working within the area of the company.

To be considered for this opportunity you will be required to possess:

·A Degree or HNC/HND level qualification in a scientific discipline
·Industrial laboratory experience.
·Good attention to detail.

* Input into technical investigations involving cell culture processes.

* Be familiar with and comply with all EHS rules, policies, procedures and any other instructions relevant to working in the cell culture area.

As the successful candidate you will have extensive experience of cell culture and related disciplines with a research or industrial background in cull culture, including development of cell lines and problem solving in cell culture processes and related disciplines. Additionally, you will have extensive experience of purification and related disciplines including purification processes and problem solving in purification. This is a supervisory position and it is essential that you have demonstrable leadership skills.

You must be educated to at least MSc level in a relevant scientific discipline to enable a full understanding of culture processes and their application to manufacturing. Six Sigma experience (ideally Black Belt) and Management qualification are key requirements for this opportunity.

Salary range: £45,000-£60,000 plus excellent benefits including final salary pension
