Our client is an established, fast moving manufacturer based in the Fareham area; they are currently recruiting for a Commodity Lead Buyer to join their Purchasing Team for a permanent position.
The Role…
Develop, deploy and implement commodity strategy for the region.
Ensure data accuracy, supplier negotiations; handle escalation at operational level and contracts finalisation
Ensure ‘best in class’ purchasing activity.
establish and maintain strategic initiatives commodities and key company processes
full control for all aspects of commercial negotiations, pertaining to nominated commodity, yearly cost negotiations, conditions, etc.
Implement New Product Introduction sourcing
Create serial production Piece Price Variant budget plan in conjunction with Plant Purchasing and Regional PUR Director and review and define actions.
Implement and track CIP improvements and create CIP plans and activities of the region to achieve/maintain best practice cost.
Execute the leveraging of regional purchasing synergies.
Improve purchasing processes and procedures.
Create make or buy proposal with coordination of plant / finance.
Signature Authority for Commercial Agreements, etc. jointly with the respective Manager.
Execute and follow the business plans and budgets for the Purchasing Department
Liaison with local buyers in Europe

Requirements…
Technical / Commercial or equivalent
CIPS qualified (desirable)
Computer literate
Experience within a fast moving (ideally) automotive manufacturing environment
Knowledge of TS16949 Quality Accreditation
Ability to meet strict financial and timing targets for new project launches
International business experience
Effective interpersonal and written communication skills, (cross functionally) and with the external customer
Skilled negotiator
Languages would be an advantage
Prepared to travel – domestic and overseas (once a month, 2-3 days)
Current UK passport
