The ideal candidate will have:

A Production Engineering / Manufacturing Project background with in depth new product introduction (NPI) acumen within an electronics manufacturing / electro-mechanical assembly (ideally within a low volume, high value production environment). Experience of managing projects involving operational/production change essential as is proven experience of lean methodologies (six sigma ideally) and Quality tools including (FMEA, risk management) with a track record of successful implementation of these principals.

This is a senior appointment working within an established yet growing manufacturer, operating at the top end of their market.

DescriptionRegister your CV An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Controls Engineer on contract within a leading supplier of laser cutting machinery. This market leading company supply a range of production line laser cutting tools using leading technology such as PV and Fiber Processing.

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for programming Allen Bradley PLCs as well as electrical layout design using AutoCAD. This Controls Engineer will be responsible for the PLC programming and electrical design of 2 automated laser cutting machines. The automated system will include a high encoder resolution servo motor and multiple servo stages.

The ideal Controls Engineer will
*Have experience of PLC programming using Allen Bradley PLC
*Have experience of electrical layout design using AutoCAD
*Ideally have experience within automated/special purpose machinery
*Be degree educated (HNC will be considered)

The appointed Software Engineer will need to carry out the following responsibilities;

Design and development of embedded control software for existing Infineon XC161 embedded systems.
Maintenance of existing software, resolve software issues as required.
Testing and validation of software prior to production release
Create documentation e.g. service and user manuals.
Software change control through Vault data management tool
Clearly communicate changes with engineering, production and test personnel
'Small scale' applications development using Visual Studio to meet business needs e.g. test s/w, utilities, and service tools
Work as part of electrical design team to specify control software for special purpose systems
Maintenance of PLC software
Preparation of test plans for control systems and products
Testing control systems during development; provision of necessary training to Test and Service personnel
Take technical lead in resolving test issues
Provision of technical support to customers and internal sales/service departments.
This may be by telephone, fax, e-mail, and, where required, hands on in the factory or on site in the UK/worldwide. On occasion, travel may be required at short notice and some additional hours worked to meet business needs.
Commissioning of systems on site as and when required.
