The ideal candidate will probably have worked in France in a customer service or technical role and therefore have an understanding of their business practices. Due to expansion, our client, a very successful market leader in design and manufacture is looking for an experienced manager for their technical office in East Sussex.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing the Technical Office function, which deals with product and systems design and systems quotations. Candidates must have proven experience in team management, a construction background with an engineering degree and also a working knowledge of CAD, FEA and ideally CFD modelling and analysis tools.
A minimum of 3 years lead design experience or similar is required, together with a successful track record of project completion and/or project introduction.

Skills:

Design Engineer
Our client located in East Sussex is looking for a Design Engineer initially on a six month contract to join their successful team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience working as a Design Engineer/Engineer/Product Designer and be educated to degree level or equivalent. In addition you
must be able to hand draw/sketch ideas and demonstrate that you have successfully managed at least two new product introductions. You
must have the ability to work from a verbal or written brief and possess the following key skills, experience and qualifications.
1. Quick, accurate use of 3D CAD, preferably Solidworks.
2. Use/understanding of FEA/CFD useful, preferably ANSYS.
3. Working knowledge of design for manufacture, i.e. tooling, moulding, fabrication and general assembly.
4. Working knowledge of engineering systems, i.e. ECN process, drawing management, quality control.
5. Able to communicate ideas clearly, both visually and verbally.
6. Develop new products from the initial concept through to production.
7. Modify and improve existing products.
8. Research new ideas.
9. Design to meet end users needs and the commercial needs of the company.
10. Design work to follow, complement and develop existing product families.
11. Able to check own work thoroughly, to ensure correct design for reliable component manufacture and easy assembly.
12. Issue 3D CAD files for production and 2D engineering drawings (where necessary).
13. Responsible for prototype builds and testing.
14. Liaise with suppliers to ensure components are correct and to the standard we require.
15. Prepare QA drawings where necessary.
16. Prepare any diagrams, images, etc. needed for product literature and marketing.
17. Create BOM’s and ensure all relevant information is passed to the Production Department.
18. Maintain good records of development work and tool / component orders.
19. Maintain good records of component modifications (and prior in-house approvals).
20. Maintain regular back up’s of all work.
21. Good awareness of general office activities and correct use of systems.
22. Any other reasonable duties as requested.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be well organised, with the ability to liaise well with the team and customers.
A creative lateral thinker who can work quickly but also very accurately, with the ability to work on and progress several projects at the
same time. You must be able to work individually or as part of a team. You must have your own transport due to the location of this client.
