Main Objective of the Role
Responsible for all shift activities associated with meeting the production plan.
Responsibility for shift production staffs quality, output, training and performance, takes lead responsibility and acts with a high degree of autonomy in running their Production team / shift.

Team Accountabilities
Conduct start of shift meetings with Cell Personnel
Ensure that all relevant work instructions are trained out and recorded within the company?s current system.
Regularly engage with their team on Health & Safety matters.
Ensure training and development of staff within their shift is regularly monitored and training progresses to ensure that the required lines/cells are able to run with fully trained operators.
Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained within their shift and appropriate cleaning regimes are carried out (e.g. clean down, 5s, PM etc)
Carry out Health and Safety and where appropriate, audit tours in their area.
Ensures that all service departments deliver on time to support execution of the production plan / schedules.
Log and report safety incidents onto the system.
Champion continuous improvement activities.
Updates and trains out training manuals.
Quality
Take a lead role in problem solving when required, ensures that any faulty stock is correctly handled in accordance with current work instruction / policy.
Monitor quality performance within their shift on a daily basis and put into place action plans to prevent a re-occurrence of any failure.
Quality awareness promoted and central to all actions.
Sentence and quarantine non conforming product.
Ensure that all quality checks are carried out and recorded as required.
Record and maintain quality (defect) reports.
Cost
Monitor performance of their production Cell/Lines and manage the process downtime logs, record the data and publish the relevant performance graphs.
First line absence and disciplinary management is conducted swiftly and effectively.
Carry out corrective actions on issues preventing the production Cell reaching optimum performance.
Carry out Back to work interviews with Cell staff.
Has direct input into the production schedule to ensure that the weekly plan is executable with minimum resource.
Inform the Operations Manager of any issues, which may affect the performance of the Cell which cannot be resolved.
Monitor performance of all personnel within the Cell and address any issues of poor performance promptly and reward exceptional performance in line with the company policies.
Schedule
Ensure the manufacturing schedule within their area is met and highlight to the Operations Manager any issues that cannot be resolved.
Set priorities for labour resource where conflicts arise.
Inform maintenance staff on production priorities.
Ensure that all available resources are ready to allow a timely start up at start of shift / new production orders.
Ensure that all manufacturing facilities are closed down in the correct manner and all equipment and surplus material is correctly stored, logged and cleaned for future use.
Manage the leave absence of the shift personnel to ensure that a balanced workforce is maintained, allowing the production schedule to be met.
