The role of the Laboratory Technician will be to support the Senior Laboratory Technician and the team to achieve the targets and objectives of the Test Room, ensuring continuous improvement and development of the business. As Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for performing material and product tests in line with internal and customer specifications, conducting inspection, trials and studies and providing material and testing support to internal customers.

As the ideal candidate, you will be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, be an effective team player, with an experience of driving and delivering against set targets. You will need to have good analytical abilities, be able to work to standard/set procedures and be able to problem solve efficiently and effectively. This role will require detailed analysis and the completion of reporting and documentation ensuring all quality related documents and systems are kept up to date. Audits will be conducted ensuring traceability of all documents in line with TS procedures as required. The maintenance of records associated with both external and internal scrap rate, instances and PPM’s, the collation of information required to generate reporting relating to KPI’s, the compilation, closing, and actioning of 8D reporting will all form part of these duties.

As Quality Engineer you will interact with customers and suppliers regarding quality issues, work off site at customers to implement corrective action and understand or gain the knowledge to understand customer specific testing requirements or specification requirements as appropriate.

Person Requirements: My client requires an experienced Quality Engineer ideally from an automotive background with plastics/injection moulding knowledge. A full understand of quality systems (QS9000, TS16949) and tools (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, 8D etc) is also deemed important for the success of this role. Previous customer interfacing experience is also important as is clear and effective communication and negotiation skills at all levels. The ability to compile and present relevant reporting will also be required

Project Management:

As Shift Manager, you will have proven hands-on experience within high volume manufacturing / production environments and the essential engineering skills to support your new responsibilities of driving KPI’s relating to Safety, On Time Delivery, Quality and Productivity & shop-floor business improvement goals. You will be a good people champion, have the natural personality to develop & mentor your production team, as well as conduct performance reviews & disciplinary action where necessary. You will command excellent, clear English language skills and be conversant with administration & IT duties to support your role. This Shift Manager position offers excellent job satisfaction & security as well as a rewarding career path, for applications with a strong “can do, will do” attitude and “right first time” application.

Position notes:
• 3 shift rotating operation, - Earlies, Afternoons & Nights
• Responsible for a team of 15-20 Production members

DescriptionRegister your CV Job Overview: Retained by our client, an established injection moulding company of plastic packaging, we are looking to appoint an experienced Process Engineer. As Process Engineer you will set and maintain process conditions on all production equipment associated within the manufacturing area. You will be responsible for product quality and through-put by the application of process control methods. You will be working in a similar manufacturing environment, be familiar with injection moulding processes and be able to work with the tooling and maintenance department to ensure financial cost savings where possible. You will be an excellent communicator, able to pass on vital information to all departments and be expected to adhere all company codes with regard to your behaviour and professionalism at all times and you will report to the Setter Champion. The ideal candidate for the post of Process Engineer will be either a time served apprentice or NVQ Level 3/equivalent and have extensive knowledge of injection moulding, - if you are not supported by any of these you will be immediately rejected.

Job Overview:
• Daily completions of problem / countermeasure follow up sheets to allow collation of performance packs.
• Fault diagnostics / Inspection and ability to determine “actual” cause of downtime / measure stoppage & carry out affective repair on a daily basis.
• To minimise the opportunities for accident occurrences by the use of prevention tools such as 30 second risk assessment, hazard spotting and where necessary perform thorough accident investigations in a timely manner.
• Minimise repetitive faults/repairs to company equipment through effective fault finding and problem solving.
• Produce desired quality mouldings in line with Product Specification
• Maximise up time through adherence of PPM and compliance to process parameter settings.
• Set moulding machines to optimum conditions to eliminate unplanned down time.
• Minimise the time taken to produce conforming parts.
• Effect any repair by ensuring correct spares used and replaced as part of strategic stock programme.

Continuous Improvement Accountabilities:
• Take a positive and proactive approach to continuous improvement through suggesting and agreeing ideas as part of a team or individual basis.
• Encourage contribution of ideas from the team/individuals and give feedback in all cases in a timely manner to ensure performance is maximised.
• Use CI tools and techniques consistently and appropriately to deliver best practice and improvement of the standard.
• Ensuring best practice is communicated and deployed within the cell and across shifts.

Skills and Experience:
• Numerically and literally competent
• Time Served Apprenticeship preferable.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
• Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic & mechanical knowledge (fault finding, maintenance etc).
• Knowledge of automated equipment
• PC Packages
• Plant Services i.e. Pumps, Air Compressors & Water Chillers
• Lifting and slinging.
• Hand Tools
• Basic machine shop knowledge
• Personal protective equipment applicable to the area, environment and process of work
