Description:
To perform specified duties in relation to our client's engineering and associated support activities to LU’s SSR Power Upgrade project.

Key Skills
• Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent qualified in Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience within the Electrical Rail Engineering sector within a similar role
• Technical report writing (e.g. Method Statements, Risk Assessments)

Overview:
London Underground is undertaking a number of high profile power upgrades to the existing electrical distribution network to facilitate new rolling stock and more frequent timetables. The design and build of the new assets will primarily be carried out by Third Parties but will require adoption by our client following commissioning and handover as well as support during the full project lifecycle. The largest of these power upgrade projects will be for the SSR lines with works being split over a number of different packages over the coming six years (2009 to 2015). The role outlined below is initially intended to support packages 2 & 3.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Provide access to all relevant system information
• Review and respond to queries and requests for information (TQs & RFIs)
• Review and acceptance of designs and associated plans
• Interface management
• Review and acceptance of method statements
• Review and recommendation for approval of new equipment, Technical Dossiers
• Review/approve/accept design deliverables
• QICC activities including Datapack reviews
• Co-ordinate and control storage of plant and material at non-Section 12 sites
• Attend Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs) and Site Acceptance Testing (SATs)
• Management/reviews of Protection Change Control submissions
• Liaise and provide support to Design Review Panel (DRP) and Equipment Approval Panel (EAP)
• Review concession requests and liaise with DRP & EAP
• Adhering to the cost monitoring and reporting system and providing feedback at project reviews meetings.
• Monitoring progress, costs and quality and initiating action to rectify any deviations.
• Providing 4-weekly progress reports
• Monitoring the SSR project resources against planned levels and initiating necessary remedial action
• Liaise and provide support to London Underground’s SSR Delivery and Adoption Teams.

Dimensions:
• AC systems 415V to 22kV, DC traction at 630V and 750V

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent qualified in Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience in similar role
• Technical report writing
• Preferably knowledge of railway industry and DC Traction systems

The main purpose of the role is to generate and win new businesses. The job holder will lead our clients marketing strategy development and coordinate this with their central marketing team and to manage the tendering process for the client. Position Requirements:

Main Duties:
• Develop new markets that meet our clients growth strategy
• Instill team spirit and drive setting SMART targets for team members and manage their IPR process
• Define, manage and coordinate the communications framework
• Develop, gain agreement and implement annual marketing plans clearly aligned with business objectives and focused on delivering business targets for and in line with our client.
• Manage all communications channels including online, offline marketing, public relations, press relations and all internal communications through the central team.
• Put forward recommendations on the need for and assist in management of appointments of any outside agencies to support the marketing and communications function
• Lead, manage and motivate the marketing team to enable delivery of their business targets
• Establish and manage the ding process ensuring pre- qualifications, tenders and post tender submissions are completed to best industry practices principles and promote understanding and professionalism to potential and existing clients
• Ensure all tender risks are identified and evaluated
• Promote buy in and involvement from the clients team
• Develop lessons learnt process that provides continuous improvement in the business
• Plan and coordinate resources to ensure they are fully utilised and available within the business development and bidding teams
• Ensure that all elements of the tender requirements are fully addressed
• Report and advise on areas that may affect or be affected by their strategy / policies
• Manage our clients business investment process ensuring they are submitted and approved in a timely manner
• Develop and maintain a key account management plan; developing relationships with key influencers

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree or equivalent qualified
• Experience of business development
• Preferable experience of target markets: Rail, Airports, Defence and Nuclear
• Understanding of Electrical Engineering
• Understanding of the clients competencies:
- Demonstrable and proven track record of success and experience in creating, developing and managing communications bidding programmes – both internal and external
- Strong knowledge of all communications media

The post holder will aid the development and implementation by Network Performance Department of the network management strategies that are essential in order to achieve Games family journey times during the Olympic and Paralympics Games and in order to keep London open for business.

They will undertake operational traffic modelling (LINSIG, TRANSYT, and VISSIM) and network analysis in support of this.

Essential:

• Excellent working knowledge and understanding of relevant traffic modelling tools such as: LINSIG, TRANSYT and VISSIM.
• Good numeracy with the ability to analyse engineering data.
• Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to impart knowledge to others.
• Willingness to work outside normal office hours including shift work entailing weekend and night time work, if required.
• Proficiency with MS Office
