• Primary Supply Management Interface towards CSC Sales and Engineering including regular CSC on site visits
• Overall compliance according to all assigned roles and responsibilities in line with the current Supply Management standards and procedures
• Regular project review and functional review meetings

Experience and Qualification
• 3-5 years Business experience, preferably in automotive project/ commodity buyer or product engineer
• Master Commercial Engineering or Business Administration degree or equivalent automotive multi year job record
• Multi year Automotive Purchasing, Engineering or Project Management Skills with hands on mentality
• Ability and willingness to communicate across European supply base.
• Strong MS Office PC skills
• High willingness and orientation to achieve defined targets
• Fluent in English, written and oral- other European language skills will be an advantage although not necessary.

Select Parkhouse are currently recruiting an experienced Cost Estimator for their rapidly expanding International client, based in Coventry / Midlands

THE COMPANY:

My client has substantial background in the manufacture of automotive vehicles. They are a global market leader and continue to grow. The UK division played a huge part in the global success story over the last two years.

THE ROLE:
As a Cost Engineer, you’ll focus on a specific vehicle commodity - from Exterior to Interior, through Power Train, Chassis, and Electrical. You’ll be responsible for:

• Delivering ‘should cost’ estimates for a specific sub-set of parts.
• Supporting the Purchase team in their negotiations with suppliers.
• Working closely with Design Engineers as a business advisor.
• Identifying and supporting the implementation of opportunities to reduce costs.
• Influencing relevant programmes and commodity directions.
• Supporting cross-functional, cross-brand and supplier charge outs.

If you already have relevant professional experience, you could join us as a Cost Engineer, leading projects and making a difference to the vehicle development. Providing more than hands-on technical support, you’ll also be accountable for:

• Leading or supervising teams.
• Acting as a senior business analyst.
• Actively leading technical negotiations with suppliers.

To join my client at any level, you’ll need to demonstrate a range of relevant manufacturing process knowledge. It’s essential that you have technical awareness at both the production process and cost driver level. Willingness to travel is essential. Ideally, you’ll also have some experience of project management.

You’ll need a degree / professional qualification or an equivalent level of experience. Excellent communication skills are vital, together with a proven ability to think on your feet and make appropriate decisions
