Responsibilities: - To ensure that the Engineering unit installs and maintains all plant and equipment on time and to specification, as per production requirements. - Organise and coordinate all engineering resources on daily/weekly basis to meet production requirements. - Investigate and resolve all production/engineering problems which will eliminate unplanned downtime. - Plan machine replacement activities. - Monitor PPM schedule, Steam Plant operations, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Electrical control circuits and Motors. - Retain ISO accreditation of the engineering department, inclusive of planned maintenance. - Provide training and documentation for new machinery, inclusive of operators. - Sourcing of best value new/refurbished parts and machines. - To champion the implementation of CARE values in the performance of all activities. - To ensure the function complies with Group and site Health and Safety policies and procedures. - Plan, monitor and ensure appropriate safety training is completed. - Ensure risk assessments/ COSHH/ RIDDOR etc. are implemented. - Ensure compliance with regulations for fire and alarm systems, PAT, pressure vessels. - Analyse the results and implement corrective action to continuously improve the working environment. - Be the competent person for the site and key holder. - Ensure all staff are properly trained and motivated to achieve the functional objectives. - Implement performance management via appraisals and development programmes. - Set SMART objectives for all staff to achieve the functional objectives. - Ensure team meetings are held regularly which communicate all relevant information to and from those involved. - To manage and control all activities in accordance with the agreed functional Budget. - Prepare draft budgets for agreement with General Manager. - Monitor and control the agreed budget. - To ensure that all site property, equipment and other assets are fit for purpose in compliance with Group standards and working practices. - Ensure efficient and effective provision and usage of all site utilities. - Minimise leaks, maintain correct pressures, temperatures, lubrication etc. - Investigate and propose new / alternate working methods. - To ensure the continuous improvement of all functional activities through increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and added value of all functional activities. - To review activities, develop, propose and if agreed implement agreed improvements. Applicant Requirements: - You will hold a Recognised Engineering qualification or be a time served apprentice. - Proven knowledge of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering principles along with a strong understanding of Steam operations. - Financial knowledge covering budgeting and forecasting. - Strong leadership and team working skills. - Minimum 5 years background within similar fast moving production / manufacturing environment. - IT proficient (Word, XL) - Strong communication and organisational skills. - Strong Health & Safety awareness.
