THE ROLE: - The role will be more focused on the delivery of frieght to clients up and down the country, and as an Operations Manager it will be your sole responsibility to make sure that the service is on time and that all trains performance is maintained. You will have to co-ordinate Drviers of the locos, planning their routes and managing their diaries and maintaining contact with them to keep deadlines. You will be directly responsible for the performace and procedure of the trains, drivers and the depot staff including training and appraisals. You will also have direct responsibility for the clients based locally to the depot and will be required to meet with them regularly to discuss the present and future needs of their business and how you can help them benefit from your service.

THE CANDIDATE: - In order to qualify for a call back for this role will have to fullfill the following criteria;
*Have a specialised knowledge of the function/trade or craft acquired through advanced formal training. ONC Level or 'A' Levels or Scottish Higher in job-related discipline may be included, or equivalent advanced craft certificate (NVQ 3/City & Guilds).
*Previous experience of managing a multiple train drivers is essential.
*Previous experience of frieght management is preferred.
*Must have previous experience of safety critical procedures with regards to train driving and be able to complete safety audits.
*Must be able to drive trains and be able to complete additional work as required such as shunting trains etc.

Catalogue all old proposals within the knowledge repository and actively investigate process improvements in order to increase efficiency

Probably suit a engineer keen to get some more experience under their belt in an interesting test environment. Having the ability to manipulate test data into Excel and then carry out analysis (with some up front guidance) and then transfer into a report is essential.
This experience need not necessarily be with brakes - they will be working with parameters such as speed, torque, temperature, sound power, etc.

The essential requirements for this role are:

*Bench testing experience or at least experience dealing with test data acquisition
*Transfer of test data from acquisition into computer based analytical tools
*Test data analysis using MS Excel
*Converting an analysis into a properly structured report for delivery to the client
*Dealing with queries emanating from the report (with assistance)
*Well structured time management skills
*Customer interfacing skills

This role is an immediate one and would only consider very experienced candidates, at least 5 years in this field.

This involves working to tight tolerances and high precision components. The work is Low-Medium volume ranging from Small - Large components supplying parts into the Oil, Gas, Medical and Machining industries.

Various materials used ranging from exotic materials including Inkonel, Super duplex etc to also Stainless Steel and Titanium.

Days: 07.30 - 16.30 / Monday to Thursday
07.30 - 12.30 / Friday

Evenings: 16.00 - 02.00 / Monday to Wednesday
16.00 - 01.00 / Thursday

Salary: depending on experience
Days: £12.50 - £14 per hour
Evenings: £13 - £14.50 per hour

PURPOSE OF JOB
Lead and supervise scrap recovery sub - contract labour teams to ensure allocated works are completed to programme and in accordance with track maintenance standards.
Prepare detailed scope of works and procure plant and materials to enable scrap recovery works to be completed safely and efficiently.
Take mitigating action as required, including escalation to the Inspection Supervisor when the procedure for Temporary Approved Non Compliance is required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
*Ensure that the work undertaken maintains safety of the line.
*Lead the scrap recovery sub - contract teams to ensure works are completed safely and compliant with the standards for track maintenance.
*Ensure the scrap recovery sub - contract teams are competent and have had adequate training for those tasks allocated.
*Ensure plant and equipment allocated to the team is suitable and properly maintained replacing defective or broken items in a timely manner.
*Ensure the logistical needs of the sub - contract teams are met, including gaining approval
*Familiarise yourself and your teams with the company core safety, technical and management briefs.
*Ensure non-compliant maintenance works are managed in accordance with the company procedure for TANC (Temporary Approved Non Compliance).
*Maintain the computerised asset management system (Maximo) to ensure that the work bank accurately reflects the current asset condition.
*Submit timely and accurate reports for outputs, accidents, delays and investigations, collate and retain work completed reports to provide the necessary assurance.
*Plans and monitors team activities. Delegates appropriate tasks effectively.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS
Your key internal interface is with the Scrap Recovery Project Manager. However, other important internal stakeholders include production delivery supervisors, Transplant production supervisors, DSM supervisors, inspection supervisors, planning department, engineering technical support, HSQE department and other railway specialists.
External interfaces with client representatives (London Underground) and suppliers of track plant, equipment and materials.
You are expected to develop and maintain constructive relationships with these parties.
