This position provides the design interface between first tier and OEM automotive engineering centres based in UK It works as part of a small team of design engineers in the collection & assimilation of data to enable electrical distribution systems (EDS) to be designed, verified and validated whilst ensuring customer satisfaction throughout.
Job Role:
Provide the design expertise ensuring best practice solutions required to achieve all programme EDS design deliverables.
Be willing to be flexible with both your time and application of your skills and experience in order to ensure total supplier excellence as perceived by the customer.
Carry out concept design studies utilising CAE tools and physical bucks.
Prepare accurate & timely component drawings for release into customers system and first tier plants
Participate fully in on site evaluation of product at vehicle assembly plants
Support all testing activities
Prepare and deliver clear, effective technical information to the customer
Be responsible for receiving, monitoring and providing customer responses and actions.
Work to project-timing plans for communication to customer.
Requirements:
Prior practical design experience with a first tier EDS supplier or from within the VM base is desirable.
CAD experience. (CATIA V5, Auto Cad as required).
EDS manufacturing experience combined with DFM.
Working knowledge of GPDS, DVP, FMEA & APQP.
Conversant with quality systems such as Q1, QS9000 & TS 16949.
TQM philosophy.
Vehicle assembly process, especially EDS related aspects.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Lotus Notes

Establish, introduce, improve and enforce MTM standard times
Design safe/stable and cost optimised assembly and logistics processes including poka yoke
Maintain basic data, FMEAs, control modifications
Facilitate and drive continuous improvement activities in line with business targets and objectives eg. Kaizen workshops, manufacturing and logistics rationalisation
Ensure machinery availability whilst adapting machine capacity to required call-off figures Responsible, as a member of the manufacturing team and together with other team members, for low cost complete process and continuous improvement of processes
Contribute to the introduction of new products and equipment by understanding and influencing decisions reached by Customer teams
Candidate Profile:
At least 2 years experience in a high volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
Experience with Laser/Weld technologies preferential
Candidates should be enthusiastic, committed and willing to contribute to the client's continuing growth.
