Design Co-ordinator
Required to join the team is responsible for the design and construction of the largest ever road construction scheme to be carried out in Scotland - the £445 million M74 Completion project. When complete at the end of 2011, the new 8km motorway extension will significantly reduce congestion on the busiest stretch of the M8 through Glasgow.
Working as part of an Engineering team of 8, the Design Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of aspects of the permanent design and interfaces between the design & construction teams.
Roles & Responsibilities:-
General Coordination
•Manages the production of design information to meet the project programme
•Coordinate with the construction team to produce an integrated design
•Monitors the production of design information against procurement programme
•Conducts a technical review of the project design
•Check and audit information provided by the Design team against project requirements
•Takes part in internal work meetings with procurement and construction team
•Attend technical meetings and review the minutes
•Coordinate technical interfaces between the various engineering offices of the project design team.
Purchasing
•Coordinate the construction drawings and methods, including those of Subcontractors and Suppliers where they effect the permanent works design
•Review, for the part which concerns him/her, the contracts of Subcontractors and Suppliers
•Reviews the Non-Conformity Files opened by the Subcontractors and Suppliers
Site
•Monitors the detailed schedule of design work and performs follow-up audits
•Reviews the method statements & relevant ITPs prepared by the construction site for the scope of permanent design in his/her scope
•Reviews the Non-Conformity Files
•Ensures the procedure for establishing as-built drawings is applied for the scope of permanent design.
Skills required:-
•HNC/HND or Degree, or equivalent, in an Engineering subject is essential
•Good grasp of Engineering procedures and processes is also a must
•An understanding of engineering drawings
•Previous experience as either deign site representative or site engineer with design input
•Experience of multi –discipline design and build projects
•Ability to deal with stressful situations in a calm and controlled manner
