As a Structural Engineer you will be spending 25% of your time dealing with design and hand calculations. Good communication skills are needed as 20% of the time you will in contact with clients and 10% of your time will be spent on face to face client meetings. The remainder of your time will be spent on suggesting engineering judgment on masonry repairs. There is a lot of travelling associated with this role and you could be asked to go to a site or meet a client in the UK or abroad. It is essential that you have a driver's licence and a car as there will be plenty of business travel in the UK.
