This exciting and busy boys prep school, based to the west of London, is looking for a skilled teacher to join their happy staff as Head of Religious Education starting in September 2012.
Being a Roman Catholic school, the Religious Education department is central to the life of the school. The successful candidate would be an experienced teacher of RE who is able to teach up to Common Entrance (syllabus B) and scholarship level. Some of the students are prepared for scholarship papers to non-Catholic schools and an awareness and support of this is also essential.
Whilst experience of boys only education is not essential, a willingness to enter fully into the reflection and development of the needs of boys, academically, physically and emotionally is paramount.
The Head of RE also works closely with other Heads of Department to monitor and encourage Ignatian principles with each subject curriculum and learning opportunity presented to the boys.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the wider life of the school, including participation in extra-curricular activities and where possible, sport.
Responsibilities for this role also include but are not restricted to:
Planning the liturgical programme throughout the term including:
Weekly mass
First Holy Communion Programme
Annual Retreat for year groups 3 - 8
Planning of specific Mass
Parents' morning of Prayer and Reflection
Assisting in the organising of a bi-annual retreat
Leading the teaching of RE throughout the school from Nursery to Year 8
Possibly teaching RE from Year 5 or 6 to Year 8
Delivering school assemblies as and when requested by the Headmaster
Organising and runing at least two after school extra-curricular activities of a musical nature
