The Department:
The Audit Team in Milton Keynes includes 4 Partners, 10 Managers and 34 Qualified and Trainee staff. The Team provides audit and advisory services to a range of businesses mainly targeting mid-corporate and medium sized firms (£10-250m turnover) including groups and subsidiaries, some of which operate outside the UK and owner-managed businesses.
Main duties:
1. Audit Responsibility
Prepares the audit plan and budget for review and discussion with the audit manager and partner.
Determines, in consultation with the audit manager or partner, the applicable audit procedures.
Determines modifications of procedures that are warranted by the client's business practices and accounting policies and procedures.
Specifies segments of the audit programme to be carried out by other members of the audit team, ensuring that assistant accountants understand their responsibilities and that they are provided with appropriate on-the-job training.
Is responsible for the day-to-day control of the audit and ensuring that the audit is completed in accordance with the agreed timetable and budgets.
Is responsible for completing those aspects of the computer audit work that do not need to be completed by a computer assurance specialist.
Brings promptly to the manager's or partner's attention any problems of a technical, administrative or personnel nature which needs action and to offer solutions.
Provides information necessary to support suggestions and recommendations to be included as business advisory comments in the report to management.

2. Staff management
The senior is responsible for supervising the work of the audit assistants assigned to the audit. The degree of supervision depends on the qualifications and experience of the staff and the tasks to which they are assigned.
On the job training is one of the most important responsibilities of the in-charge accountant. During the audit, the in-charge accountant informs the assistants of work areas in which they are performing well, and which of their skills need improvement.
At the conclusion of the audit, the in-charge accountant evaluates the performance of their team in accordance with the evaluation procedures of the Firm.
3. Marketing
To attend office and departmental marketing activities.
Identify opportunities to provide our clients with additional services.
Assist in the production of proposals and presentations for new work.
4. Departmental development
To contribute to the way that the department is run and the procedures that are adopted.
To contribute positively to departmental meetings and technical meetings.
To work with colleagues in the development of staff.
Complete weekly timesheets accurately and submit by 10.00am the following week.

Our client is looking for an Audit Senior to join their well established team.
The successful Audit Senior will have experience of running audits from planning stage through to clearing the file reviews. You will be capable of sorting out accounts disclosures and be technically capable. You will be able to complete first draft tax computations for all jobs. In your current role, you will have experience of supervising a team of staff.
The role is approximately 80-90% audit based including tax work with the balance being made up of accounts prep work and ad-hoc assignments.
