*Write Product Specifications and instruction leaflets
*Inspection of product at 'Goods In' to ensure it meets its specification and has not deviated from a known standard/specification, down to material and dimensional levels
*Random inspection of product within warehouse to ensure it meets its specification, again to material and dimensional levels
*Should a product deviate, establish to what extent and what other products may be affected
*Electrical testing (usually soak testing) of product to check its performance
*Establish work instructions for product rework, and ensure they are adhered to
*Investigate product problems and report findings
*Establish packaging data for compliance to Waste Packaging Regulations
*Manage Technical databases and records

The creation of an additional Lead/Senior Design Engineer opportunity within the team aims strengthen an already highly competent team of specialist engineers helping the team achieve the business goals over the next 5 years.

Already performing a Lead/Senior Design Engineering role (or with the ambition, tenacity and talent to take on the challenge) you will be able to take Customer Specifications and work within international product, pressure vessel and material codes from the Naval Marine, Nuclear and Desalination sectors to take designs from first principals to final production and will you will also take a leading role in product innovation.

Ideal candidates will be mechanically competent, qualified to a minimum of Degree level, have sound ability with 3D Modelling Software (Solidworks is the current Design Platform) and essentially the demonstrable expertise and ability to perform hand calculations for Pressure Relief, Stress/Strain, Shock & Seismic validation, without the need for reliance on CAE tools. For example, can you produce a sample set of calculations from previous experience based on the design of a pressure vessel with addition of flange analysis? Furthermore, to meet the strict demands of meeting UK Security Clearance, you must be a UK citizen.

To ensure the smooth running of projects and programmes a newly created position of Principle Engineer within the R&D Engineering department has been created. With a dotted line of report to the Engineering Director; the successful candidate will take responsibility for managing and mentoring a small team of Design, Applications and Project Engineers.

The primary purpose of the role will be to take an approved customer order/specification and create a high standard design concept from which parts and components can be sourced. This will entail Design creation using SolidWorks 3D CAD along with FEA exercises to prove the suitability and feasibility of the ordered product.

Additional duties will include organising team members to work on specific areas of a project and close liaison with internal and external departments. Working closely with the end customer to ensure an order can be delivered to specification, on time and within budget, you will also forge close relationship with suppliers, test houses and specialist consultancies to support bespoke programmes.

Suitable candidates will have demonstrated experience in designing and delivering Off-Highway, Commercial, Military or Construction type vehicles, however, candidates from the Aerospace and Automotive sectors will be given due consideration.

Purpose of the Job
To support the Business Improvement Techniques function of the Business by working with the BIT trainers to capture and assess evidence that will result in learners achieving an NVQ level 2 or 3 in Business Improvement Techniques.

Job Role
* Assess candidates to awarding body standards undertaking an NVQ level 2 & 3 in BIT, Level 2 QCF Diploma in PMO and Level 2 QCF in Warehousing and Storage Skills.
* Working in partnership with trainer during the improvement workshops to ensure evidence is provided and captured in the learner's portfolio in line with the awarding body.
* Providing candidates with individual feedback and actions as specified in the assessment plan and Individual Learner Plan.
* Ensure all portfolios are submitted for IV check in a timely manner.
* Enrol candidates to stakeholder requirements.

Measurements of Individual
* Interim IV diagnostic reports.
* Employer & leaner feedback and general client satisfaction.
* Timely completion of right first time portfolios.

Non Negotiable For The Role
* Qualification to A1 or equivalent
* Ideally have IV certificate.
* Proven work experience in the practical application of Lean techniques in the manufacturing sector.
* Proven experience in facilitating continuous improvement/lean activities in a project environment.
* Experienced in the assessment of candidates working towards NVQ BIT Level 2 and 3.
* Strong knowledge of the following tools - lean, value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, visual management, process flows, practical problem solving (Fishbone, 5Y etc) SOPS.
* A working background in warehousing operations and knowledge of manufacturing.
* Strong in character and able to handle difficult situations.
* Self motivated and results focused, IT Literate - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
