Reverse Engineering and Dimensional Inspection
As a Product Development / Inspection Engineer, the main duties and responsibilities will be to collect dimensional data from existing cast components using tools such as 7-axis laser scanning devices, and hard probe Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). This data will then be used to create engineering quality 3D CAD model geometries suitable for in-line manufacturing processes.
Other key duties will include the dimensional inspection of a wide variety of patterns, models and cast components, creating nominal deviation colour plot reports and dimensional inspection reports, and keeping accurate records up-to-date to meet the requirements of the ISO9001 and AS9100 accredited internal quality system.
The candidate:
must have at least 2-3 years industrial experience in the field of reverse engineering or dimensional inspection
preferably be qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical Engineering
must have had some exposure with one of the more common 3D CAD modelling software packages in terms of carrying out operations such as interrogating models to obtain sizes and compare actual dimensions.
experience of creating CAD models from scanned and hard-probed data points using dedicated reverse engineering software packages such as Geomagics or Polyworks would be advantageous but not a essential
must be able to interact positively within a fast moving environment.
must have the ability to work both on their own initiative and as part of a team
must be meticulous in their approach to work
