About the job
The composite department specialises in the Manufacturing/Production of complex carbon fibre components for a diverse range of customers within the motorsport, wind, offshore, subsea sectors, to name but a few. With its 1396 sqft temperature and humidity controlled clean room and 5mx 1.8m diameter autoclave, trimming, bonding and fitting room all housed under one roof.
Role and Responsibility
Will be responsible for leading and managing all composite staff and employees and vetting the appropriate skill set needed.
Manage the day to day running of the facility.
Generating work and promoting the company.
Meeting tight production schedules.
Customer Support - provide technical support to existing and new customers, quoting, scheduling.
Monitor material costs and cost savings.
Monitor labour hours and overtime, and implement improvement plans and time management with staff Requirements.
CAD Design capability.
Stock control and purchasing of materials, delivery of parts on time.
Facility house keeping.
Reporting to the MD, this is a standalone position carrying out the vision and goals of the company, formulating and maintaining the strategy with best practice in mind.

With HR support responsible for the application of disciplinary procedure within the cell up to and including written warning stage.
Selection and recruitment of team members using the appropriate company recruitment process.
Produce inputs to the manufacturing strategy and cell improvement plans. This will include any annual capital spend projection.
Ensure new starters, apprentices and newly promoted employees are properly inducted and an appropriate training plan is documented and implemented. Ensure regular performance reviews take place during the training period.
Safety
Responsible for the safety and well being of all team members, visitors and contractors within the working environment.
Ensure all fire, security, safety and housekeeping standards are adhered to.
Ensure all unscheduled work, e.g. overtime, is appropriately supervised at all times. Ensure end of shift audits are carried out.
Complete a monthly health and safety inspection is completed.

Ensure the production schedule is achieved whilst adhering to quality and cost targets.
Quality
Ensure all procedures, processes and documentation is in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 and ISO14001 quality systems.
Ensure that any non-conformance is resolved in a timely manner using QIs, CARs and 5D methodology.
Ensure compliance with work instructions and approved drawings.
Be constantly trying to improve processes and products by sponsoring a culture of continuous improvement.
Cost
Manage and deliver to agreed targets all KPIs. Any deviations to budgets must not knowingly be pursued.
Lean Manufacturing
Assist in the development and delivery of the clients Lean System strategy for the implementation of lean manufacturing in the cell.
Build and develop a change culture to ensure the continuous improvement of people, processes and systems.
Ensure all team members are trained in lean techniques and are encouraged to participate fully in lean initiatives.
Experience and Qualifications
A typical Production Manager should possess a proven track record of success achieved in a manufacturing operations environment. Previous experience of managing the assembly of medium volume high precision wooden components and assemblies would be preferred. The successful candidate could originate from a Production Engineering background.
Ideal candidates can be qualified up to degree level but it is essential that they have a formal management qualification ideally gained in a manufacturing environment.
Experience of lean manufacturing would also be an advantage.
