Job Purpose
To prepare high quality winning bids to our gas and water customers that maximise profit and deliver value bids to customers having considered all the key risks.



Duties & Accountabilities
Initial assessment of tender documents and outline of project requirements. Confirm decision to tender and complete Bid Appraisal Form, where required/applicable. Assess need for commercial review of tender documents.
Preparation of sub-contract and material enquiries and allocation of suppliers/providers. Arrange for dispatch and analyse quotes received.
Preparation of estimate build-ups and take-offs, comprising Labour, Plant & Transport requirements, outputs and programme of works based on site assessment. Discuss and agree with Project Manager, including Prelims, qualifications and clarifications.
Adjudicate tender with responsible Director or his appointed person (and where required Contract/Project Manager) agree changes and tender mark up. Assess proposed qualifications. Complete / sign off tender analysis form and copy to relevant parties.
Follow up tender submission to try to ascertain sufficiency / competitiveness of “Won / Lost” bids, and opportunities for improvement of “Win” position on future bids.
Continuous assessment of tendering process and updating of L, M, P, T, & S/C rates / information, and also prelims (staff costs, etc.).
Development of other Estimators and setting of objectives.
To carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.
