This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Java Server Developer to join a fast paced FTSE100 company.
This role is based within a newly formed division within Capita, specialising Secure Mobile Data Solutions and supplying many police forces across the UK, you will be working with high profile accounts and impacting the future of a very new sector of the business.
Working within a small, friendly team you would be based on the Glasgow University Campus. Working 37.5 hours a week over five days there is flexibility to decide your own hours so long as core hours are included. If you have a drive to provide a high quality product and strive to exceed expectations where ever possible you will find that this role both challenges and rewards you in equal measure.
As the Java Server Developer you will be responsible for developing our core base code and developing customer specific functionality including interfacing with third party systems via web services and other mechanisms.
As this role involves working with confidential information you will be required to be eligible for Security Clearance. To gain (SC) clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
Other key elements of this role include
Specifying and documenting requirements
Carrying out unit tests on developed code
Supporting the test team during the test cycle
Supporting the product including analysis of issues and development of patches as needed
Provide a general point of technical support, analysis and consultancy as needed
Essential Experience / Skills
Experience of business critical Java projects involving three or more developers lasting at least two to three months. These should be across the full project life cycle from project inception to handover to support
The ability to gain (SC) clearance you (i.e. been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years)
Experience of providing development support
Experience interfacing with third party systems via web services or other APIs
Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server or another enterprise level RDBMS
Experience developing web applications using XHTML, CSS and JavaScript
Desired Experience / Skills
Knowledge of security and issues relating to development of secure software, ideally including experience of using encryption, SSL/TLS etc.
Automated unit testing (e.g. JUNIT, TestNG)

Required skills:
The successful applicant will have previous application experience using the following:-
Peopletools (8.4x and above) including Application Designer (all aspects), Peoplecode, Application Engine, Application Packages and Integration Broker
Oracle 9i, SQL, PL/SQL, Building Web / Tuxedo, Patching - change assistant and Data Mover (scripts)

Role
Senior Software engineer will provide technical support and consultancy to functional teams and other technical teams.

Summary of post
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical and domain expertise, advice and guidance to the Web Marketing Programme team and the underlying solutions. The post-holder will need the ability to facilitate effective communication with business users to analyse and extract functional and non-functional requirements. As a Compliance Officer within our Life and Pensions division you would be an SME and have a passion for delivering excellent standards. The working hours are very flexible as the contract is for 3 days per week but this can be worked across the working week around your own schedule.
As part of this role, the compliance officer would need to carry out the Compliance Monitoring Plan based on the monitoring requirements determined by the Business Unit Support Teams and in accordance with the Capita Compliance Monitoring Procedures and methodologies (client requests will be taken into account where appropriate).
We are looking for someone to maintain the Capita Compliance Monitoring Procedures and methodologies (and to adopt best practice and economies of scale where appropriate) whilst incorporating reasonable requirements agreed with the Business Partner "authorised firms". Alongside this, there is the need to interpret and apply relevant regulatory guidance to the business areas and provide practical alternative solutions to the business where standards are deemed to be deficient.
As this is a support and advisory function you would be completing reports of monitoring findings including suggestions for relevant remedial actions. Other duties include presenting monitoring findings to the relevant Business Customers at de-brief stage and in draft and final reports and to the Business Partners at an appropriate and agreed at final report stage.
