Role
Act as an engineering expert in the Asset System Management team in the delivery of flood & coastal erosion risk management (FCRM) actions to meet targets in line with the Environment Agency Corporate and Management Plans.

Provide flood risk assessment and engineering advice to the team leader and other team members.
Analyse and interpret asset condition data, prepare engineering reports with recommendations for decision making.

Produce reports for performance monitoring, business planning and management team reviews.

Respond to customer enquries by following the Corporate Charter.

Carry out Client representative's role on asset replacement and improvement projects.

Liaise with Environment Agency Process team and act as the focus of expertise for matters relating to asset management process and policy guidelines.

Update asset management plans, develop annual and medium term investment programme.

Assess planning consultations and drainage consent applications in relation to their impact / influence on flood defence assets & systems.

Liaise with other EA teams and key stakeholders (Local Authorities, IDBs, Natural England, landowners, business / Commerce, Pressure Groups)) to develop cost effective, environmentally sensitive and practical solutions.

Person specification
An engineering graduate with minimum of 5 years experience (Chartered or nearing Chartered preferred).

Good knowledge of flood risk management, hydraulics and hydrology, river and sea defence engineering, CDM Regulations, PRINCE2 foundation , project appraisal and financial control techniques, and IT skills.

The candidate need to demonstrate the abiltiy to take personal responsibility to manage health and safety in both the office and field environment.

The candidate needs to be able to work as part of a team and recognise the importance of meeting deadlines and budgetary constraints.
