Our exclusive client, a well established company who deliver advanced design, manufacturing and engineering solutions are seeking a software engineer with moderate to strong embedded development skills in C/C++.
To join this small team you must be able to demonstrate embedded C and C++ development experience and will be a well rounded software developer with particular strengths in embedded software. You will have designed and implemented applications and device drivers for a number of real-time embedded operating systems and will produce work in a logical and organised method. In particular the ideal candidate will have experience of developing for VxWorks, CE or XPE OS. A good understanding of the full software development life cycle (SDLC) and documentation standards and quality management systems is also essential. Any experience of System Engineering and/or Hardware development would also be desirable.
An understanding of PC / GUI applications and C# is advantageous. Analysis and design experience will have been gained using UML and/or other formalised OOD techniques. Your ability to convey information and concepts using formal methodologies or simply a logical approach to development will be crucial to your success in this role. Quality Management Systems experience of ISO9001/TickIT/TickITplus are ideal as is developing in adherence to military/defence standards such as MIL-STD-498, ISO/IEC 12207 or other comparable standards.

We have a requirement for a Support Technician who has an exposure to a variety of electronic products as well as an aptitude for analysing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. The role is fairly diverse and although product training will be provided, current electronics experience is essential. You must have excellent communication skills as you will be a customer facing technician who will provide first and second line support of products and solutions by email and over the phone.

You will be experienced in electronic equipment testing, support or development. As part of this small team duties and responsibilities include;
• 1st and 2nd line technical support
• Hardware support of GPS receivers
• Customer training / training customers in the use of the products
• Testing hardware on the bench – Test Bench Repair / solutions testing
• Terminal programming using a proprietary scripting language similar to Assembler
• Administration such as documenting set up of airtime for terminals / products
• Equipment installation – although rare you may have the opportunity to install the terminals into vehicles or be involved in the installation of a total control processor based solution
The ideal candidate will have an electronics background within a customer facing role and have strong analytical skills and be self sufficient dealing with customer queries both over the telephone and via email. The largest market is Spanish speaking so you will be dealing with many customers whereby English is not their first language, therefore patience and excellent communication skills are essential. Occasional travel to customer sites in the UK and overseas maybe required after training so a valid passport and current driving licence is ideal.
You will be working within an open plan office which is fairly informal. This friendly team work together to meet customer needs and all relish a challenge. The helpdesk provides a 24/7 service which after a few months you will be required to partake. It involves carrying a mobile phone for one week in every four/five and you will support a tracking / GPS product as well as 1st line for a computer network (training provided). Overtime is paid.
