We are currently seeking an experienced Software Engineer (SWE) for our Database Group, which provides system & software development and maintenance for the RIPE Database and related projects.
They will be working in an environment with professional, knowledgeable and enthusiastic engineers where getting things right is more important than just getting it done.
New software will be written in Java, so we are looking for a SWE who has worked with high-performance J2EE Java applications. Most of the service infrastructure is UNIX based, so the applicant must also have experience of maintaining UNIX applications.
The Database Group uses Scrum, which is Agile framework for software project management. Delivery cycles are two weeks (called: sprints), managed by our Scrum Master. We have daily stand-up meetings. The Database Group maintains several existing UNIX systems, which include a software platform written in a mix of C, shell scripts, Perl and Java.
Essential Qualificatons:
* 3-4 years software development experience
