Description
|
|
Conceptual design, analysis, detailed design, checking, assessment and strengthening of all types of highway and railway structures to current codes and standards.
Supervision of graduate engineers and technicians
Report writing
Liaison with clients
-Chartered Engineer, MICE or MIStruct E
-Able to work quickly and accurately under pressure and manage small teams of graduates and technicians
-Minimum 3/4 years' experience in bridge design since graduation
-Excellent analytical skills, experience in FEA techniques an advantage
-Intimate knowledge of current codes and standards (some knowledge of the Eurocodes an advantage)
-Good communication skills, oral and written
-Pro-active management style
-Enthusiasm and ambition to progress
-Experience of Design and Build projects
-Techniques and methods of structural analysis relating to bridges
-Good working knowledge of current Codes and Standards relating to highway and/or railway bridge design and assessment.
-Knowledge of foundation design and geotechnical engineering

A near Chartered Structural Design Engineer is required required to work as part of a dynamic building structures team, taking a lead role in project work, focused on production, delivery, client liaison and coaching junior members of the team.
This company are a global engineering leader and promote CPD heavily.
Applicants must have excellent inter-personal skills, with good leadership potential capable of communicating effectively with other members of the project team. The candidate is expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for delivery of excellence in structural design.
Responsibilities
- Prepare feasibility study reports to meet brief requirements in the agreed format and review with project leader.
- Work with client & design team to assemble a design specification compliant with requirements, agree its format and content, and monitor and review its preparation ensuring delivery by the due date.
- Agree and monitor scope of works.
- Clearly define building requirements and purpose of use with senior team member to allow detailed design.
- Gain an appreciation of sustainability and EMS issues and incorporate requirements into project delivery.
- Review and monitor the production of calculations including QA, technical reviews and sign off.
- Deal with the day to day queries from site, ensuring that relevant information is available on time for construction activity.
- Report to the client any variance between the works constructed and the design intent.
- Project manage small / simple projects, using applicable project management tools.
- Lead the design process and encourage the rest of the team to deliver appropriate and cost effective solutions to the agreed programme.
Requirements
Degree Educated in BEng or similar
Chartered or approaching chartered status (MIStructE/MICE)
You will have experience in;
-Structural design in steel and concrete.
-Use of analysis and design software for the design of building frames
-And ideally Experience of finite element analysis software, Knowledge and use of RAM, ETABs, Building Designer, and Eurocode knowledge
