Main duties and responsibilities:

Ensure that information systems, e.g. CAFIS, and client records are effectively maintained to provide up-to-date and accurate information, upon which decisions affecting service delivery can be made.

Maintain a personal awareness of legislation, departmental and corporate policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Looked After Children, Children in Need and Child Protection, acting in line with these to ensure consistency and a high quality of service delivery across the Directorate.

Recruit, train, assess and support adoptive parents and foster carers to ensure that there is a suitable range of placements to meet the needs of children within the District and across the County and to facilitate the adoption and fostering process.

Attend training courses and other development opportunities as acreed with line manager tp ensure compliance with GSCC requirements.

Our client is a national charity based within the housing and charity sectors, who are currently recruiting for a Head of Finance on a 3-4 month contract. The client is looking to interview this week (week of 30th January, 2012).

The purpose of the role is to lead the Finance Team area to achieve outcomes agreed with the Director, alongside managing the finance operations in line with greed policy and by upholding the organisations values. You will be required to develop relationships at senior levels within and outside the Business (e.g. bankers, auditors etc), which build trust and confidence in the finance function.

Some of the duties include:

* Lead, manage and motivate staff to ensure the function works in a collaborative way to improve team- work with the senior and four Business Performance Managers.
* Establish clear performance and development objectives for direct reports and support and constructively challenge staff to achieve them.
* Ensure the strategic and corporate objectives are implemented for all aspects of financial performance.
* Work closely with the Director to develop medium term financial strategy in consultation with the Business, which is integrated into the overall strategy for the organisation.
* Ensure statutory Group annual accounts for Housing and Consolidation are prepared by Senior Accountants within the agreed timetable with the Director and external auditors
