The company is now looking to employ a qualified General Insurance Pricing Actuary to provide support,solutions, recommendations and advice to the general insurance business on a range of pricing and other financial projects in accordance with the regulations and the business strategies. In addition to coach, manage and develop a team of trainee analysts and actuaries.
Making recommendations which could influence the premium received and claims paid by the business which can have financial impacts to the order of millions this is a pivotal role within the actuary department that requires proven and substantial general insurance pricing experience, experience in recommending statistical pricing decisions to the business, strong knowledge of actuarial and statistical pricing techniques and managing a team. Experience of rate Assessor and Emblem would be a distinct advantage.
Key accountabilities include account pricing and advice, market analysis, compliance, technical expert, strategy and leadership. A 2:1 degree with strong mathematical content is also required.
Most work is allocated by the General Insurance Actuarial Manager and the role includes delegating and supporting tasks to other team members.Tasks will often require liaison with other department managers in order to gather information or communicate results. The ability to process, analyse and interpret data using a range of statistical and actuarial methods is essential as is IT literacy in the use of spreadsheet, database and word processing packages. A desire to keep up-to-date with evolving best practice and new methodologies in actuarial work is expected.
This role carries a salary up to £73,000, also includes a Solvency II bonus of £15k per annum including a company performance bonus upto 20% with excellent company benefits.
