Job/Role Purpose
Delivering the complete planning capability within the company supporting the Head of Planning in Managing the Project Planners in discreet business sectors

Key Accountabilities

Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment.

Job/Role Purpose

Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer, providing technical support to design activities for the project, participating in the assessment and generation of control and instrumentation designs. Answering technical queries and ensuring designs fed from design suppliers meet safety functional requirements. Liaising closely with suppliers through attending supplier’s premises or by other means, the Engineer will confirm the adequacy of the design liaising with the project team to confirm the interfaces with other equipment types are appropriate. The Engineer will maintain close contact between the project and the appropriate Corporate Design Authority representatives.

Key Accountabilities

• Review design submissions for compliance with specifications and user requirements; safety requirements; Legislation; Standards; Codes of Practice and good engineering principles
• Attendance at Design Reviews as the ‘electrical, control and instrumentation’ representative for the project
• Providing advice and answering Technical Queries on electrical control and instrumentation matters to Project personnel, suppliers etc requiring such information / guidance.
• Undertake electrical, control and instrumentation design work as directed
• Confirm the adequacy of interface information for all supplier design packages provided
• Liaise with the integration team to feed appropriate confirmed data into integration models

Key Responsibilities

• To ensure that I understand and apply my responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
• To work with and provide support for colleagues

Qualifications

• Minimum of a degree in electrical engineering field (or equivalent) or a Chartered Engineer but not necessarily both
• Full member of an appropriate Institute

Knowledge

• Control and instrumentation building services covering special purpose equipments within a nuclear environment
• Good understanding of control and instrumentation design / installation / testing and commissioning
• Good understanding of BS EN 61508 and application of SIL rating to design
• Legislation, standards and codes of practice
• Safety systems, practices and safety administration
• Hazardous area installations (DSEAR)

Experience

• Demonstrable experience in the design of electrical, control and instrumentation services including safety systems within a nuclear environment

Skills

• Computer literate, with experience in the use of computer aided design packages
• Possess excellent technical knowledge
• Have a good understanding of, and is able to Interpret and understand information in numerical form

Behaviours

• Clear concise and fluent communicator, unambiguous in exchanging information at all levels
• Learn from others and disseminate gained knowledge to others
