The Role

Key Skills / Requirements

• Strong technical project management experience

My client is a renowned industry leader in the production of cutting edge IC solutions for clients. This includes providing systems and other high-tech products used by their clients in a range of industries. New product development and a healthy business pipeline have led to a requirement for a RF Systems Engineer

Your Responsibilities:

RF Engineers are central to our Application and System Centre team which focuses on the development of RFID solutions (e.g. RFID label and reader antennas, RFID-enabled POS and EAS terminals, RFID tunnels etc.). An important part of our activities are also tasks in electronics and measurement techniques for which we are looking for an experienced RF Engineer with the following key responsibilities:

- Developing, testing and optimizing RFID solutions
- Board-level RF HW design
- Simulating RF systems
- Developing RF test systems
- RF measurements
- Electronics troubleshooting

Your Profile:

- Graduate of Technical University in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics or equivalent
- Thorough understanding of Electro-Magnetics wave propagation
- A solid background in RF (up to 1GHz) engineering and electronics, including hands-on design and verification of RF systems and antennas
- Experience with RF measurement techniques and related SW
- Experience with RF simulation tools
- Experience with soldering and PCB assembly techniques
- Thorough background in board level RF HW design and testing
- RFID background is desirable
- Experience with RF matching is an asset
- Strong team-player
- Willingness to travel occasionally (max. 10%)
- Good proficiency in English

The role
Office-based in Colchester, Essex, you will work closely with the electronics and board layout engineers at all the different stages of board development, for both rugged and more benign environments. The design team operates in a small company environment which means that most design's are completed by an individual engineer involving all aspects of the product design and development.

Key skills:

Established Mechanical Design Engineer
Educated to graduate level and with experience of designing thermal and mechanical solutions for electronic products in harsh environments
In all cases, you need to demonstrate an ability to design cost-effective and compact solutions which have excellent thermal transfer characteristics
You must be independent and a self-starter, able to plan and carry out your work with little supervision and with the ability to deliver effective results in short timescales
Experience with bus-based modular boards, products dissipating 60W or more, and BGA packaged electronic components.
Familiarity with VPX, VME or CompactPCI bus systems would be beneficial.
Practical experience of the thermal and mechanical issues involved in designing for rugged environments such as airborne or ground vehicle mounted equipment would be a significant advantage.
Familiarity with SolidWorks for mechanical design, and CF Design for thermal analysis

You will be responsible for technical support of my client's Car Access product portfolio with a focus on hardware related RF issues. As a competent partner you will work on solutions together with the customer. You will also serve as the interface between the customers and marketing as well as R&D.

With deep RF know how and basic knowledge in building application software you will support the Car Access product line.
Focus on customer orientation especially to clarify technical issues, work out solutions, discuss and collect requirements for new concepts/products/systems.
Develop, test, maintain and document applications for our Automotive RF circuits according to customer needs.
Specify, develop and take care of complete applications and systems including demonstrators for trade fairs and application tools.

My client is a leader in media-rich application processors, hardware platforms and advanced middleware. Its products enable OEMs, ODMs, System Integrators and Software Developers to deliver industry-leading devices across a broad range of consumer electronics and embedded markets.

We have a new position live for a Graduate Embedded Software Engineer where you will be working in a small team, creating C++ models to aid in the validation of leading edge processors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development of C++ simulation models from architectural specifications.
Development of C++ tests for proving models performs as expected/specified.
Providing feedback to architecture team to aid improvements in design.
Providing test support to Hardware designers.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

Good understanding of C/C++.
Proven experience with C++ and able to demonstrate this in your CV
Mixed knowledge of software and digital hardware design
Strong debugging/fault finding skills.
Experience of Linux based systems would be useful but not essential.

EDUCATION

Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree would be preferable. An equivalent degree (software engineering, mathematics or physics degree) whereby you have an understanding or interest in the development of complex digital hardware systems would also be accepted.
