The role is 50% focused on DBA duties (Production) and 50% on SQL Server Development projects. One or Two years commercial experience in a DBA or SQL Server Development role is preferred though is not essential. Knowledge of SSIS and projects involving the “deployment to live” and migration of Databases would be beneficial. Typical client projects are using SQL Server, SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008 though MySQL knowledge would also be advantageous.

Projects will vary in size from large multi-developer projects, to small single-developer environments, therefore you must be adaptable to work both independently and in a team.

Ideal Candidate:
• SQL Server DBA / Developer with 1 to 2 years commercial experience
• Exposure to SSIS would be advantageous
• Must be able to work as part of a team
• Must be able to work unsupervised
• Must be able to work to deadlines and to work under pressure when required
• Must be able to author technical documentation

Qualifications

A 2 month contract for a web forms and web service expert, with skills across the design, development and testing cycle:
• Microsoft .Net v4.0, C# or VB (essential)

• XML Schemas/XPath (desirable)

The initial project is working on a piece of work for a national web-based data capture system. The new system will make it easier for our client’s customers to make applications online, and enable our client to capture, validate and process personal data through a suite of web forms, integrated via web-services with their established corporate case management system.

The base technology with be .NET v4 (VB), and knowledge of MVC design patterns, .NET web forms, .NET web services and XML data transfer will be essential. The ability to make complex data capture and workflow easy and intuitive will be a critical success factor.

Initially for 8 weeks and paying market rates; this is an excellent chance work with some of the latest technologies in the market in a strong team of technical developers.
Contract extensions will be available and offered following the successful completion of the initial set of projects.
