There is also a separate site that specialises that provides continuing care and patients will get transferred here when the Neuro-Rehabilitation unit can no longer rehabilitate them. Positions are available for RGN’s on both the Neuro-rehabilitation unit and the adult continuing care unit. For both units nurses can be provided with training on how to care for patients who require long-term ventilation support. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing treatment services, health and well-being promotion initiatives, counselling and alternative therapies to the 900 + students on campus, so that a comprehensive health and counselling support service is provided within the school. In addition to the running of and the growth of this valuable service the Health & Welfare Manager will be responsible for the management and the empowerment of a small team of healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth running of the department and that a holistic approach to the Student’s welfare is delivered at all times. The successful candidate will ideally be from an Accident & Emergency or Practice Nurse background as the role is largely autonomous and you have to be able to assess and make decisions as to the most appropriate treatment/action to take. In addition you will be diplomatic, assertive and be enthusiastic for the role in order to really drive this service forward. In addition to working with the Students and the Student Affairs team you will also be liaising with the Academic tutors and head up case conferences for those students that perhaps are requiring more support. The role will encompass specific responsibility for managing a caseload of patients undergoing tests, investigations and ophthalmic procedures in an outpatient setting .You will independently use clinical skills and evidence based practice to plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for ophthalmic patients. You will have a working knowledge of this area of care providing specialist advice and support for patients requiring tests investigations and minor procedures ensuring standards of care are maintained in accordance with Clinic policy. You will be expected to act on behalf of and deputise for the Eye Centre Manager promoting and continually developing this outpatient service.
