The purpose of the role is to design & deliver processes that achieve both the customer & companies requirements in terms of quality, cost & delivery, utilising the continuous improvemnt philosophy of manufacturing. The key duties of the role include; 1 To design and implement processes using lean manufacturing philosophy that achieve the budgeted performance criteria. 2 Development of processes using risk evaluation and analysis such as PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) that ensures continuous improvement and high performance. 3 To generate and maintain Process Plans for each new process using current cycle times, to determine the machinery and labour requirements. Take full ownership of process engineering related items specific to their area of responsibility 4 To generate the Capex from the Process Plans and keep this updated with all the purchases/costs for the process, ensuring that cost and delivery targets are met. 5 To ensure that the set quality, capabiltiy and performance criteria as outlined to the customer is maintained through continuous development of the process. 6 To update and issue the Technical Instruction Sheets (TIS) for new and existing processes to ensure the process is running to spec. Writing of standard operations sheets and training of lead operator/Team Leader 7 To give ongoing support to Production through any issues with the process by investigating and modifying/improving existing machinery where appropriate. Through process design and implementation they must prove that the process can deliver QCD targets. 8 To generate and maintain CAD drawings for new and existing machinery where appropriate 9 To create and continuously review the machine specifications developed from the PFMEA/ control plans. 10 To manage/prioritise and lead projects/production issues. Provide Engineering effective countermeasures/solutions to above using PPS methodology to solve complex problems. To determine the extrusion line settings associated with the developed die and to take responsibility for the yield improvements/ countermeasures associated with each line. Previous experience is essential - Key aspects of role will include; * To develop dies for new profiles and ensure their effective and efficient introduction into the production process. * To design and develop test fixtures, drill/laser guides, forming tooling to shape the profile. * To design and maintain extrusion dies, and measure and evaluate the quality, performance and capability of the extrusion profile. * To provide sufficient data to the die maker to ensure right first time die manufacture. * To provide and update Technical Instruction Sheets and set-up sheets for the extrusion team, to enable them to manufacture product. * To support the extrusion team in troubleshooting/ problem solving activities and customer concerns. * To support the engineering department with the specification, justification, procurement and installation of new extrusion processes. * To assist in improving the extrusion process in cost, quality, productivity and yield using techniques such as training and development for extrusion team members. * To repair and replace damaged dies/ tooling and ensure that 100% back-up dies are available. * Support in the effective introduction of standard operating procedures and TPM/PM. * To assist and develop other process where necessary.
