DescriptionRegister your CV To undertake a full range of technical studies and design activities in the areas of Guidance & Data Fusion, Control and Navigation.

PROJECT & BUSINESS DELIVERY

The following specific responsibilities have been identified from the job families framework as being applicable for the role:
1. Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements.
2. Carry out a range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
3. Carry out investigations into a range of problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.
4. Define testing approaches and specify tests in assigned/specialist area(s) and evaluate and make recommendations based on results, including making suggestions to improve test/diagnosis processes.
5. Plan, control and deliver assigned projects or work packages, and make an input as required to cross-functional projects / investigations, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan.
6. Carry out planning, risk management and quality activities in assigned area in line with all requirements and processes.
7. Participate in collaborative ventures at a technical level.
8. Provide effective support in assigned areas, delivering solutions to meet the Project needs and requirements plus the programme plan.
9. Keep up to date in relevant technical areas, develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services (seeking and sharing good practice and knowledge to continuously improve practices), and supply technical support and expertise to others as required.
10. Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
11. Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support their effective working.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
* Degree qualified with a strong mathematical background.
* Experience across all aspects of a single engineering area/domain and an appreciation of other areas.
* Able to work from first principles.
* Substantial analytical and problem solving skills.
* Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently.
* Organisational / co-ordination experience; the ability to work with and through others.
* Good Communication skills.
* Up to date knowledge of issues in relevant specialist area(s).
* Good understanding of relevant policies, processes and standards.
* Capable of managing work packages.
Highly Desirable:
* Practical experience of modelling flight dynamics.
* Practical experience of Matlab / Simulink.
* Experience of delivering on a product development programme.
Preferable:
* Some practical experience of developing Guidance, Data Fusion, Control & Navigation systems ? i.e. Guidance Laws, Trajectory Optimisation, Estimators/Observers (e.g. Kalman Filters), Autopilots (e.g. Optimal Control, Non-linear Control, Multivariable Control, H-infinity, Mu-analysis), Integrated Navigation.
* Knowledge of sensors ? e.g. Accelerometers, Gyros, Inertial Measurement Units, GPS, RF and IR Seekers.
* Knowledge of actuation systems in relation to autopilot design.
