The Role - Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Our client is a leading edge Tier 1 internet and telephony solutions company, providing organisations with advanced, feature rich services. They are currently looking for a Network Operations Datacentre Engineer to work alongside senior members of staff within the Network Operations Centre, monitoring the Wholesale Network, dealing with clients and suppliers and ensuring that strict standards are maintained with regard to the attention to detail that this demanding role requires. This role is to be based from their offices in Hampshire.

The Role - Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tasks will include configuration and maintenance of Cisco and Linux hardware, testing and documenting new hardware,
- Managing your daily case load and ensuring that requests from other staff members are first authorized and then carried out in a timely manner.
- Support senior members of the Network Operations team in their day-to-day tasks
- Installing racks, setting up power, installing ethernet, fibre and console cabling, remote power
- Maintenance of up-to-date records of hardware assets within the asset database
- Undertake technical projects such as upgrades, hardware swap outs as dictated by senior engineers
- Server build and installs, application upgrades, network equipment build, testing and installation
- Configuration and timely dispatching of Customer Premise Equipment
- The role will also involve regular trips to the London and Fareham datacentres for scheduled and emergency maintenance tasks.
- Compliance with Change Management procedures
- Adhere to documented procedures that are in place, whilst also contributing new articles to our knowledgebase
- Own, manage and resolve in a timely fashion tickets assigned via the service desk and escalate to Senior Network Engineers where appropriate
- Provide information to other departments within the business who depend on the NOC team

The Person - Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- An understanding of both Cisco and Linux based systems
- Knowledge of networking within an ISP environment would be beneficial
- Cisco or Linux qualifications would be an advantage
- A willingness to learn, not just new systems, but the way in which we use them
