A smaller than average sized comprehensive school, located in the south of Leamington Spa is seeking to appoint a teacher of Art on a maternity cover post as of January 2015. This is an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' School. Teacher of Art **** Art Teacher, KS3, 4 and 5. *** Maternity Cover, January- May 2015 *** Opportunity to apply for post of Subject Leader *** Ofsted rated Outstanding School *** Leamington Spa The school serves a community with relative social deprivation. Over 40% of our pupils have been eligible for free school meals during their school careers. More than 25% of pupils have English as an additional language and a large proportion of these joined the school directly from abroad with little or no English. More than 35% of our pupils have special educational needs. These are challenging circumstances which the school has overcome with great success in recent years. The school has a philosophy that every student can achieve and make rapid progress. The establishment accepts no excuses for under achievement. The school is a strong and cohesive community, which has inspired great loyalty from pupils and parents. The standard of behaviour in lessons and around the school is very good. Levels of engagement are very high. Many teachers enjoy working in the very positive atmosphere created by strong teacher/pupil relationships. Since 2010, there has been a significant rise in raw attainment. In 2013 and 2014, 58% of Year 11 pupils have gained at least 5 A*-C grades including English and maths. Given the lower than average starting points of our students and significant volatility in examination performance at national level, the establishment is justifiably very proud of their students' achievement. In five Ofsted inspections since 2006, both subject and full, the school's provision has been graded as either outstanding or good with outstanding features. It is essential that any potential applicant has a strong understanding and personal commitment to the school's mission and ethos; indeed, this is an important aspect of all person specifications for positions at the school. The establishment requires a highly enthusiastic and skilled teacher of art to lead our art department where there is a real enthusiasm among students to learn and participate in the subject. Art is taught in a purpose-built block and a good range of facilities is available. The successful candidate will be expected to teach GCSE and A Level and may, subsequently, have the opportunity to apply for the role of temporary Subject Leader of Art if they have the suitable experience and skills. To apply, please submit your CV via email to Liam at Connaught Education. Connaught Resourcing operates as an Employment Business and an Employment Agency. We are a committed equal opportunities employer who respect and value cultural diversity. Connaught Resourcing will carry out background checks including referencing and where required an Enhanced or Standard DBS Disclosure as part of our recruitment and selection procedures.
