An interesting and exciting opportunity within a growing Tidal Energy company. The Design Draughtsman will undertake and support mechanical design activities and produce detail drawings. This is a challenging role within a rapidly evolving environment.

We are the world leader in Tidal Stream Technology, and have a 1.2MW SeaGen Tidal Turbine operating in Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland. Its generated 3000MW/h of electricity onto the grid, which is 10times more energy generated then the rest of the tidal sector put together. >From the success of the SeaGen machine, the company is going through an expansion stage (probable takeover), and increasing numbers. The plan is to design a 2MW machine, and install 10units by 2016.

So initially, we want to add 1 permanent Draughtsman, and in the future when we move to larger offices (likely to be in April), we would look to add more draughtsman to the team. If someone looks really good, with 10+ years experience, then we can push to low 30's. The role is permanent. We require someone local to Bristol area, or willing to relocate.

Person Specification

Job Description

Based in the workshop at their headquarters and reporting to the senior engineer. The engineering fitter will be responsible for and assist with the following:

Mechanical assembly of packaging machinery including pneumatic circuits and ideally some electrical installation. Knowledge of PLC control would also be an advantage.

Servicing and repair of existing machinery.

Using a manual lathe and milling machine to make or modify components.

Other reasonable duties such as picking items from stores, that may be required from time to time.

The company and engineering department in particular is quite small, so a willingness to be flexible and work as part of a team is essential.

Some travel to customer's premises or exhibitions may be required to find running problems or to service machinery. This may occasionally involve out of hours or weekend work with the possibility of an overnight stay. A van will be provided for such visits.

Our client is a privately-held Aerospace OEM company. The company has a range of proprietary designs (patents & IP) which provide Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) solutions for both the commercial and defence markets, with its current major focus on a long endurance surveillance aircraft (optionally manned) and a heavy lift logistics aircraft capable of lifting 50-tonnes.

In its Defence business, our client recently won a contract to design and build 3 surveillance vehicles for the US Army, during 2010. This contract is currently in its assembly, test and delivery phase for the first vehicle.

In its Commercial business, during 2011, they established its Heavy Lift Programme and signed a deal for the design and build of a fleet of heavy lift aircraft.

The Conceptual CAD Design Engineer will report to the Technical Manager on all matters and will take responsibility for providing a world class professional conceptual design service to the business, utilising SolidWorks CAD technology. The successful candidate will be accountable for developing design schemes for the company's air vehicle, sub-systems and structures from initial engineering concept through to prototype and development testing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Developing design schemes for the complete hybrid air vehicles and special projects including all structures, mechanical systems and propulsion systems.
Providing design scheme/operational concept material in PowerPoint to support technical and business development presentations in PowerPoint.
Achieving design targets to customer lead times.
Interface with suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure standardisation of parts wherever possible.
Following the Company's technical and administrative procedures.
Ensure that the business conforms to legislative design standards. Person Specification

Must have the ability to develop conceptual designs with minimal guidance as well as fleshing out the concepts of others faithfully.
Excellent problem solving and innovation qualities.
Excellent communication skills.
Willing to start as a contractor (40 hours spread over 5 days a week), but then migrate on to the permanent design team. Qualifications & Experience

SolidWorks design with a focus on early conceptual design and basic layouts
The successful candidate should be educated to degree/HND level in a relevant engineering discipline and have a proven track record in Aerospace
At least three years design experience in an aerospace environment. Excellent knowledge in and experience of SolidWorks 3D CAD package.

Our client is a well-established company specialising in the design and manufacture of special purpose machinery across many industries. As a result of continued growth, they are now looking for an experienced design engineer with strong 3D CAD skills ideally in SolidWorks.

As a senior member of the design team you will be contributing to all aspects of the design process. This includes creating 3D models, 2D drawings, bills of materials and other documentation. A good up to date knowledge of SolidWorks is required and ideally EPDM documentation system. Accuracy and experience of mechanical design in a similar environment is essential. Some hands on work and visits to customer sites, including overseas travel may also be necessary.

Person Specification

We're looking for Design Engineers who enjoy solving technical problems, pays attention to detail and enjoys working in a team environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Ideally a minimum of HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong 3D CAD skills, preferably with SolidWorks. Those with Autodesk Inventor, SolidEdge, Pro/Engineer, CATIA or NX will be considered.
An awareness of documentation storage / Data Management systems such as EPDM would be ideal.
Knowledge of engineering design principles and industry standards.
Experience in the design of special purpose machinery.

We require a Screening Administrator to help with the screening process and ensure all candidate references are obtained to strict lead times. Providing a high level of customer service to both our Clients, referees and candidates at all times.

The role will be based in Redbourn working with the Operation Director. The role involved handling sensitive data so you will be required to be screening and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Role

The role will involve obtaining candidate references both verbally and by email for employment and education from companies based both in the UK and Overseas.

Locating missing referee data by performing basic internet searches

Updating reference responses received into our online system

General Administration Duties

Data Entry

Liaising with candidate and referee for missing data and documents both by telephone and email.

Cross checking candidate system data against CV' supplied

Salary

You will be required for a minimum of 35 hours per week (9am to 5pm - excluding 1 hour for lunch).

The rate payable £7.00ph.

Skills

You will need to have great people skills and be able to deal with Clients ranging from blue chip organisations through to small businesses in a professional manner.

You will be enthusiastic and have a can do attitude as well as thinking outside the box.

You will have excellent command of English both written and verbally.

Excellent telephone manner, with the ability to be professional and polite at all times
