Our client, a mid tier operator based in West Africa, they require a team of time served diesel mechanics to conduct preventative & reactive maintenance on their fleet of heavy mining equipment.
The role requires hands on mechanics, to lead and mentor the local workforce on a FIFO basis. . You will have previous experience of working within a remote region for prolonged spells and preferably have previous African experience.
The core duties will consist of, but not be confined to:
•Conduct preventive and reactive maintenance of heavy mining equipment, Candidates with previous experience of Volvo and Caterpillar equipment preferable.
•Equipment will include, articulated dump trucks, excavators, dozer, Graders, mobile Cranes, Services Trucks.
•Trouble shoot, analyse and repair equipment breakdowns and where appropriate implement / recommended plans to address shortcomings.
•Conduct job planning for routine and non routine task to ensure optimum equipment availability
•Assist management with proactive management of spares.
•Undertake maintenance and repair work in accordance with prescribed quality/workmanship standards.
•Form part of standby roster to attend to call outs after hours
•Adhere to established safety, health and environmental standards
•Assist with development of local artisans by actively transferring/impacting technical skills.
Qualification & Education:
•Recognised diesel/mechanic/ fitting trade qualification.
•At least eight years working on heavy mining equipment, preferably Volvo/Caterpillar.
