The Job

An opportunity exists for a Purchasing Manager with international mechanical engineering procurement experience to fulfil a key role managing the mechanical engineering category within this large organisation. Reporting to the Procurement Director you will have the following overall objectives and responsibilities;

• Conduct market intelligence gathering, identify suppliers in new markets and improvement opportunities, gather price and cost trend information for use in developing Commodity Strategies
• Lead a multifunctional and pan country team to define and implement Commodity and sourcing strategies, for the selection of suppliers for the Mechanical Commodities
• To prepare, negotiate and agree Frame Agreements and ensure that these are successfully implemented in each country entity
• Coordinate and animate network of local buyers to ensure compliance with strategies, including selected suppliers and group policies
• Drive down prices through the application of competitive methodologies to achieve and preferably exceed pre-agreed savings targets.
• Drive standardisation and commonality of what is to be bought across the company
• Lead a multifunctional team which monitors and improves supplier performance through supplier development and improvement programmes.
• Typical spend in excess of £35m p.a. in a medium to high complexity supply chain
The ideal candidate will have a mix of the following skills and experience;
• Procurement professional preferably Educated to degree level
• Engineering qualifications would be an advantage
• Management experience within an European cultural environment

• Strong commercial, contractual and legal knowledge

The Job

An opportunity exists for a senior purchasing strategist with international mechanical engineering procurement experience to fulfil a key role overseeing the mechanical engineering category within this large organisation. Reporting to the Procurement Director you will have the following overall objectives and responsibilities;

• Annual Commodity Spend: circa €120M
• Develop market knowledge of the Mechanical Domain both in Europe and in countries on other continents
• Interface with the international internal stakeholders on all Procurement matters jointly developing, planning and implementing category strategies based on market knowledge and company requirements
