VACANCY : PRODUCT TEST ENGINEER
ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS

The Opportunity
Reporting into the relevant Project Manager, Intertek is now looking to recruit a Product Test Engineer to help underpin the impressive growth of the UK business. This role will involve testing products ranging from IT, Audio-Visual, Medical, Scientific and Industrial instrumentation through to Household Appliances and Life Safety and Security products against international standards covering safety and performance.
This role will be based in the Intertek office at Leatherhead, Surrey and will involve:
Essential Knowledge:
- Understanding circuit diagrams Electrical and Electronic (PCB level).
- Utilising Test Equipment for measurements and recording of data.
- Recording of test data accurately.
- Efficient user of Microsoft applications (Word / Excel / Outlook)
- Ability to adapt in changing environments and work alongside other engineers.
Non-Essential:
- Liaising with clients in relation to projects, test failures and other related issues.
- Understanding International Test Standards governing product safety.
- Test Report generation.
- Compliance with the Intertek Quality System.
- Contributing to operational improvements.
- Experience working within a 17025 laboratory environment
Previous Applicable Knowledge suitable to role:
- Test Engineer: any field relevant to Electrical / Electronic testing.
- Service Engineer (fault diagnosis / repair)
- Maintenance Engineer (fault diagnosis / repair)

Intertek now require a Project Manager to manage a team of engineers in the product testing and certification industry who work to ensure that the products of various manufacturers are tested to the necessary international electrical safety standards covering Medical, Laboratory, IT, Defence, Aerospace, Industrial and Audio-Visual equipment
Duties will include
- Scheduling and prioritising the workloads of Engineering staff
- Progress reporting to internal and external customers
- Ensuring project packages are suitable for initiation
- General line management of Engineers
- Monthly Forecasting of project completion
- P&L responsibility for the section
- Ensuring invoicing activities are completed on time and with integrity
- Attending customer meetings supported by technical engineers where required
- Ensuring support to Sales through timely delivery of quotations and bid proposals
- Operational improvements of section in conjunction with the Business Improvement Group
- Commercial decision making in conjunction with business stream manager and sales team
- Ensuring compliance of section with the relevant accreditation and quality policies in conjunction with the Quality Dept
* Knowledge of CE marking or of electrical safety and/or EMC standards highly advantageous
