Senior SMT Engineer – Job description
Our client requires a Senior SMT Engineer to work in our busy SMT Production Department. We have our own modern in house SMT assembly facility with new equipment based in our factory in Eastbourne. Due to recent increases in sales we now need to expand the capacity of our SMT Production Department.
The role will report to the Factory Manager
The successful applicant for the position will have:
• Proven experience in a SMT electronics assembly production environment
• Experience in set up and programming of SMT assembly equipment – I-Pulse M4e and M6ex would be a particular advantage
• Basic IT skills – competence with Windows applications
• Good communication skills
• PCBA product and SMT assembly process knowledge
• Dexterity for hand assembly and rework and proficiency with hand tools
• IPC-A-610 qualifications or training would be an advantage
• Flexibility in working hours and shift and weekend working shall be required
• Must be available to work at least one Saturday shift each month as required
Job Functions
Carry out the following tasks within the SMT Production Department under the direction of the SMT Production Supervisor:
• Operation, set up and programming of SMT pick & place machines
• Building of prototype PCB assemblies as required by Paxton Access development department
• Operation and set up of solder paste printing machine and reflow oven
• Troubleshoot production issues and communicate them to the SMT Production Supervisor
• Perform routine maintenance tasks
• Ensure that PCB assemblies are build to agreed quality levels and that scrap and rework is minimised
• Coordinate SMT operators /techs to minimise line down time
• Optimisation of pick and place machines to maximise production efficiency
In addition:
• Comply with factory working practices
• Inspection of all aspects of PCB assembly
• Repair and rework of PCB assemblies
• To maintain housekeeping standards within the SMT Production Department – ESD precautions, component handling and cleanliness
